No one has mentioned yet that the actor playing Magnus is, so far, the only openly queer cast member and part of the queer community! It's also very interesting that he was born in Australia but raised in Canada.

Toronto-based actors and playwrights, Damien Atkins, Paul Dunn and Andrew Kushnir, are in hot pursuit of what it actually means to be gay.

If it weren’t for Magnus’s incredibly tragic and disturbing story, I’d say I absolutely loved the way Damien Atkins portrayed him. At times, there was something almost tragicomic in his expressions, which was difficult to reconcile with the things he does to Lestat. At the same time, though, it really gives you a sense of just how far gone someone like Magnus had become.

He was actually one of the characters I was most eager to see brought to the screen. I really hope the show eventually covers more of the Chronicles, because I’d love to see Khayman, Roshamandes, and Benedict, as well as the Twins. You do know the story of how Magnus came to possess the Dark Gift, right? It’s brilliant!

I know the gist, he kidnapped a vampire and took it, yes?

I definitely thought Damien did a fantastic job. I can’t lie like I was actually afraid when I saw pictures of him and how like protest he was going to be. I was afraid of that his portrayal was gonna give me nightmares… but I must say this show has a neck for taking even the worst monster and turning them into with 3 dimensional character.
