Hopefully fair Review - DA2020
At the writing moment (4th of July, 2021) we're 55 episodes into the season/show, so I think it's fair to write a review of what I think of the reboot so far. I will try to keep my review as spoiler-free as possible. [My review is also uploaded on Crunchyroll.]
Art Style/Design: 4,5-5 / 5 - Gorgeous. They all look absolutely beautiful. Animation: Varies from episode to episode, but usually 3-4 / 5. Writing: Varies a lot from episode to episode. Everything from 2-4 / 5. Pacing: 0,5 - 2 / 5. Honest talk, this show has terrible pacing, no way around it.
It's a fun reboot with golden episodes and moments, but the show suffers a great deal from terrible pacing and the idea that Tai has to interfere in every. SINGLE. EPISODE! Yes, he's the main-MC of the gang and in general a wonderful child, but for me it has reached a point where I sigh in annoyance whenever he shows up on screen, simple because we're never allowed to breathe from him even in the episodes where the gang is separated and it's supposed to be the others’ time to shine.
So in the end, is Digimon Adventure 2020 worth watching? Overall I would rate DA2020 3/5, but… Yes, I still think so. Despite how critical I might have sounded in my review, I still think it's worth a watch. It's a decent anime. Not amazing, but it still has its' great moments and episodes between the more lackluster ones. //Jezz.
