What do you think made Adeel Hussain ppr for Daasi? I mean his script sense hasn’t been impeccable but to come to TV after yearssss with this?
Farigh betha bore horaha hoga xD
But on a serious note..it is rare for a drama to have a bound script ready when it is offered to go to production. Actors are given the first few episodes alongside the show’s one-liner description and maybe a oral narration of what the show is going to be about. And based on that all contracts are drawn. I had watched an interview where Adeel had said about Daasi that the show has the potential to be a thriller if treated that way. But he wasn’t sure if the director had chosen that tone. So maybe, Adeel had signed on the dotted line thinking Daasi was going to be something else than what it turned out to be. Between the channel heads, the content heads, the writer, the producer, and the director...every show goes through a million changes and the final product is rarely, if ever, something than how it was originally intended to be.
for instance, Saba had signed on for Cheekh after just reading the show’s first 5-6 episodes and even though she didn’t explicitly mention it, her reaction towards the drama being dragged and becoming a tad too melodramatic w.r.t her character during her The Munshi Show interview hinted at her personal displeasure towards the direction the writer had ended up given the show. The Zubiya tries to commit suicide scene in Yakeen Ka Safar was never in the script that Farhat Ishtiaq had written and it was a last minute addiction by the director. There was a show Obi-Ahmed Ali Akbar show called Munkir which came and went without anyone caring because of the various production halts. Khair, I mention it here because Obi had said in an interview regarding Munkir that he had signed on for the show because he was promised a rather thrilling and action packed finale to the story but none of that ever came to happen. And by the time he realized it, there was no way to back out of the show.
So, mayhaps..with Adeel and Daasi it’s the same thing.
