Sign-Ups are LIVE!

Hi guys! Sign-ups are now LIVE! This means that you can go now to this link, and be ready to go! Sign-ups are open for two weeks, meaning that they close on the 10/10/2021 at 6 PM GMT. Until then, you will be able to fill in the form and edit your offers and requests.

Some things to remember:

· It is very important to put in the “description” box of the requests section anything that you do not want. Please list any characters, pairings, universes, situations, triggers &etc that you do not want to receive! If you leave anything out of here, your gifter will not know that they are not to put it in – for example, if you would like a Mary/Matthew story where Lavinia lives, if you do not specify that you don’t like stories about infidelity, your author may write that into your gift!

· Please also be aware that not everyone is contributing fic (if you wish to contribute art or gifsets, please mention that in the offers description box section). If possible, at least one of your requests should be made at with that in mind – so that our lovely gif makers don’t have to make a Baxley Star Trek AU that must include hurt/comfort!

· Please ensure that you use a diversity of characters in both your offers and requests – this will make matching you all up a lot easier! This also applies for rarepairs or one-off characters. We all love Lucy Smith, but if she’s the only character you have put down for what you would like to make/receive, it's going to be difficult!

Welcome to DACC 2021 and Schedule Announcement!

Hello all!

This Holiday Season, we're organizing an anonymous gift exchange for the Downton Abbey community! All are welcome to participate, with whatever characters, seasons, alternative universes or pairings you like. Please see below for the schedule of this event, and a brief explanation of terms used :)

How do I Sign up? We'll be releasing a form on Archive of Our Own (AO3) when sign-ups open - you will issue a request of what characters you would like to see, a prompt if you like, and anything you definitely don't want (any triggers or squicks, or even a character you don't care for). After that, you'll be asked to submit an offer - simply put down the characters you'd like to write for!

We'll let you know when the sign up form is live!

What kinds of gifts are you accepting in the exchange? Anything! Fics, gifts, art, songs, interpretive dance... if it's a format that doesn't totally work on AO3, submit it here or to our email address, and we'll post it on the 24th with the rest of the works.

How long should fics be? This is a low-pressure fun event for the Downton fandom, and we're all quite aware of how stressful the holiday period can be - therefore, the word count we will be accepting is anything more than 500 words. There is no upper limit - but remember, the deadline for all works is the 19th of December, so it must be fully complete by that date.

What do you mean by Anonymous? The works will be posted with the creator's name as "anonymous" on December 24th, so you'll get your gift before you know who wrote it. On the 27th December, creators' names will be revealed.

Explaining the Sign-Ups!

Hi all!

The sign-up form can look a little daunting to the uninitiated. Therefore, we're issuing a small explainer as to how the process works.

First of all: you make a request for a work you would like to receive. You will fill out that form, and give some details. You can submit up to two requests. You will only receive one gift, however - the multiple forms are simply to facilitate matching you up with someone.

Then, you make an offer. The offer gives basic details on what you would like to make, including what form of fanwork you plan on gifting to the exchange. Please submit at least three offers. Again, you will only have to create one fanwork, but multiple offers helps us ensure that everyone has someone to match with.

Step one: when the sign-ups are open, click the link and you will be brought to the sign-up form. On this form, there will be a "request" section and an "offer" section.

Step two: The Request form (see below) is what you would like to receive in the gift exchange. It is important to note that for matching purposes, the most important criteria is the "characters" section.

The description box here is to let your gift-er know what you Do Not Want, and any broad ideas you have for your fic that they can work off.

The optional tags box is for any tags you think might help your gifter get some ideas for their fanwork.

Please see below for an example of what a completed request form should look like - please note the broad nature of the prompt!

After submitting the two requests, you will move on to...

Step three: the Offer form. This is where you will detail what you are interested in creating. This is also where you let us know what you want to create - eg, a gif set.

If you don't mind what you write, then you can click the "any character" box! Please be aware, however, that this means you may be assigned any character, even one you really dislike!

Please see below the completed example for the Offer form. Remember, you need to submit three of these.

If you change your mind on anything you submitted, you can edit your sign-up offers and requests until they close on the 10/10/21.
