Lovely #Dactylioceras #ammonite I found near #whitby UK many years ago #GeologyJohnson #geology #palaeontology #Jurassic (at Oxford University Earth Sciences) https://www.instagram.com/p/B1Ji18fJY7n/?igshid=133flgv547she
yorkshire.fossils Here's one of our favourite Dactylioceras ammonite nodules. We found this at Runswick bay and it took several hours to prepare. What sets this piece apart from most other Dactylioceras multi blocks is that the ammonites are all of a decent size and the orientation of them makes this piece seem really 3D.
#FossilFriday lovely #dactylioceras #ammonite from #whitby I collected as a wee lad and part of the reason I'm now sat writing about billion year old mud. https://www.instagram.com/p/BsxVAc0gnWT/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1p6nutu3cj9w2
Lovely little #Dactylioceras #ammonite that has polished up beautifully. :) #Fossils #geology #palaeontology #Whitby #yorkshirecoast

What a specimen 🤩
It’s a Dactylioceras species from the Lower Jurassic - Upper lias and found by Harry Tabiner as an erratic (lose on the beach) on the Holderness coast.
Please like and share so others can see this amazing #fossil
yorkshire.fossils Here’s one of today’s finds whilst out collecting with @whitbyammonites6472⛏ 🌊 ⛏ It’s a double Dactylioceras nodule (rock)! Dave kindly took me along to the coast with him to show me some of his favourite ammonite locations, he’s a legend when it comes to Yorkshire ammonites 😎 I also found an interesting slab of Ichthyosaur bones and some sea-washed Ichthyosaur jaw! Will post those tomorrow 😉 My dad is starting preparing the latest Ichthyosaur paddle we found at the weekend, so photos of that to arrive soon
