The Pregnancy
You really spent your time planning out when to have a child
And there was no perfect time but you came to a time that you knew would work well
And as fun as trying is it takes a while
After a few months you’re both starting to worry that something is wrong
You’re both more and more nervous as time wears on
But you’re also scared that if you go to the doctor they’ll tell you something really is wrong
After months of trying your period is a few days late
Then a week, then two
And you’re shaky as you hold the pregnancy test
You cry when it comes back positive
You put together a cute little present to tell Seokmin
And you nearly blurt it out when he gets home
But you manage to hold it in long enough for him to open the gift
It takes him a split second of him looking at the baby onesie he’s pulled from the bag before he drops it and pulls you into a tight hug, crying
He constantly dotes on you
He wants to make sure you are happy and comfortable
He’s more obsessed with tracking the pregnancy than you are
He comes to every doctor’s appointment he will actually cry if Seungcheol of the manager tries to say no
He knows how big the baby is and how they’re developing
As soon as he knows that the baby can hear he won’t stop singing to them
He’s so excited to be a father
L&D
He manages to be calm when you water breaks
He focuses on getting you to the hospital
And then getting you settled in the room and holding your hand as the doctor figured out how far your body is into labor
And then you’re calm
And once you’re calm and relaxed and Seokmin has nothing else to fuss over
He starts to stress out
He quietly paces the room and insists that he’s fine while constantly asking if you’re sure you’re okay or if he can get you anything
And you make him sit down on the bed with you and take deep breaths
And he admits that he’s worried something might go wrong
And he doesn’t want to just sit around and do nothing
It just has his thoughts spirling
You get him to talk to you and relax on the bed
You share funny videos and tell jokes and contact family and just try to rest while you have the chance
He really wants to be a lot of help when it comes time for you to push
But he’s nearly in tears as you cry out in pain on every push
He’s never seen you in this much pain and it kills him
He’s trying to calm his own breathing as much as yours
Of course the second he hears his little girl cry he starts to sob
And his whole world shifts in an instant
Newborn Moments
Neither of you knew it was possible to love this much
But you’re both so in love with your little girl
Seokmin is immediately wrapped around her finger
He takes on taking care of her easily
He normally jumps out of bed at night faster than you when she cries
He does her best to soothe her and get her back to sleep
But he can’t help smiling and giggling and cooing at her
And sometimes he ends up getting her more worked up
He never means to, it just happens
He is fantastic with play time
Any time she gurgles or coos he responds to her
He gets the first smile out of her
Which you bitterly tell him is probably gas
As much as you both love her and she’s pretty good for both of you
You know she’s already Seokmin’s little princess
She loves being in his arms
She reaches up to him when she hears his voice
And settles to sleep when he sings her lullabies
You would be a lot more jealous
But it’s so obvious that she’s his whole world
And he loves her to the ends of the earth and back
You can’t help but be filled with love for your little family
