I want Seb to walk around with his child facing forward, in a baby carrier!
And since blind Muggle fathers are said to touch their children to "see" if the babies are healthy, I hope Omi touches his children in that way, with lots of love and affection💕
First full thing I've written in so long, very much unedited, I just felt a little inspired and wanted to finish this before the inspiration left my body lol I hope you enjoy

Falling
~900 words | SFW
The afternoon was warm, bees hummed lazily between stalks of lavender, birds singing their songs at the top of the trees letting the world know the sun was out. Ominis rocked gently on the garden swing, Elijah’s stuffed bear abandoned beside him as the toddler weaved between trees, chasing butterflies with his new ball bouncing along.
Ominis brought a teacup to his lips inhaling the sweet scent as he drank, Sebastian chattering about the yard work he got done earlier, pruning the hedges and harvesting the ripe apples from the old tree on the edge of the garden. He kept half an ear on his husband's voice, and the other on his son's laughter as his shoes pattered across the flagstones.
Then came the muffled scrape of a wooden stool being moved along the grass, the same one Sebastian had used just a bit ago to pick apples.
Ominis’ brow furrowed and he tipped his head towards the sound. “Elijah? Bug, what are you doing?”
No answer.
Just a creak of wood and leaves rustling like they were being batted at from below.
“Elijah?” Ominis called again, his voice raising slightly. Sebastian quieted down, listening intently.
“Daddy missed one!” came the small voice, filled with the determination of a child much taller than himself.
Before Ominis could even ask what he meant, the world cracked with a sharp scream and a loud thud.
Silence.
And then choked sob that made Ominis’ blood run cold.
“Elijah!” The cup slipped from his fingers as he stood, his feet already moving away from the swing and towards the tree. “Sebastian, is he-”
His husband brushed past him, cursing under his breath. “I got him.”
Ominis followed the sound of Sebastian’s footsteps, his own feet stumbling over the stones. Why did he leave his wand in the kitchen? How foolish was he to not carry it with him at all times.
The wailing pierced his heart the closer he got to the tree. Sebastian’s gentle voice rising up underneath. “Elijah, buddy, I got you.”
Reaching Sebastian’s side, Ominis dropped to his knees as his hands brushed against his husband's shoulder than to their son’s halo of curls. He swept over every inch of small, shaking skin, reassuring himself the boy was safe. When his fingers reached Elijah’s knee, the faint tackiness of blood clung to the tips, causing his heart to pound painfully in his chest. “Sebastian- is that?”
"Just a scrape. He'll be alright.” Sebastian said softly.
“Are you sure?”
“Positive. It's not deep, love. A little cut on his knee and hands.”
Ominis nodded but his mind wouldn’t stop replaying the sound of the fall. Even as Sebastian stood to take Elijah inside, Ominis sat there, echoing the screaming. Sebastian had said he was okay, that it wasn't deep, but what if it was?
What if Sebastian hadn’t been there or if he had struck his head and Ominis couldn't find him? That helpless feeling he had buried long ago bubbled up, choking him with doubt. The sun shining on him burned harshly.
He didn't realize his hands were shaking until Sebastian’s larger ones covered his, squeezing gently.
“Hey,” he started, crouching down with a sniffling Elijah clinging to him. “He’s okay. We got a plaster on, wiped our tears and had a biscuit.”
“Papa,” the little boy grabbed for his other father, wrapping his arms around his neck. A crispy biscuit pressed against his lip and Ominis opened them to take a soft nibble. Elijah happily returned to his own biscuit, munching away as he fed Ominis.
“See, he's okay.” Sebastian smiled down at his little family.
Kissing the top of Elijah’s head, Ominis breathed deeply in an attempt to settle his nerves. “I should have stopped him. What if it was worse, or you weren't there to find him?”
“Hey,” Sebastian’s hand reached out to squeeze his own. “You did find him.”
“No, you did.”
“You knew exactly where he was. Hell, you knew he was in danger before I did.”
“But I wasn't able to stop him from falling.” Ominis let out a humorless laugh.
“No, but he’s okay. We aren't going to be there to stop every fall, but we try our best and be there to help him get back up.” Warm fingers grazed Ominis’ cheeks, guiding him closer until their foreheads touched. “You’ll always be there for him, you always are. You catch things before they happen, hear when he's getting into something he shouldn't. That's not nothing.”
The lump returned to Ominis’ throat, prickling his eyes with fresh tears.
“You’re allowed to be scared, I was scared too. But I know he'll fall again one day, a hundred more times but he'll get up again, because you're there and I'll be there. He'll always have us.”
That undid something in him, a tremor of relief and love and fear washing over him in a jumbled mess. Sebastian pulled him in and Ominis allowed himself to melt into the warmth of his husband's chest, their little family all together, a little bruised but whole. And that was enough.

“Are you- Are you sure I should?” Ominis kept his voice low, his hands hovering in the air as though to catch a falling star.
Charlotte, smiling up at her husband, reached out one hand to gently squeeze Ominis’ palm. Her skin was flushed with exhaustion but her golden magic pulsed softly against the stillness of the room. She cradled their daughter to her chest, swaddled in soft linen barely a few hours old.
“She won’t break,” Charlotte signed into his palm.
His breath hitched, heart hammering as he sat next to the curve of her knee. Ominis felt wholly underqualified for this. He had never held a baby before, let alone his own. How was he supposed to hold his arms? Surely they would be uncomfortable for the babe. Too bony, too tense, too uncertain. What if he dropped her? What if he held on too tight?
Charlotte shifted slightly beside him, the duvet rustling as she sat up, her warm magic brushing against his. But it wasn’t just hers.
A second aura, pure and fragile, tickled at his senses, butterfly wings against his soul. Soft green, barely there, so faint it shimmered like a mist, clinging to Charlotte’s breast. As she brought the little bundle closer, his heart stuttered.
“Oh…” he breathed, stunned as she guided the little baby into his trembling arms.
She was so small, lighter and quieter than anything he had held before. He curled his arms instinctively, adjusting slightly so her soft head nestled gently in the crook of his elbow, his muscles tense with fear he would make a wrong move.
Then he felt her shift.
A tiny wiggle, her small hand slipping free from the blanket, reaching up for her father, brushing against the wool of his vest. His body tensed before melting completely. “Oh…”
Ominis found himself placing his index finger against her palm, little fingers tightening around his own in a grip that locked on to his very heartstrings. Five perfect little fingers wrapped around his own.
A beat passed.
And another.
Charlotte watched with tears clinging to her lashes, all the emotions coursing through her veins, as he slowly, oh so carefully, lowered his head until his lips brushed against her tender forehead.
She smelled of warm lavender, sweet milk and the kind of love that was pure and untouched by the world.
Her magic stirred against is, a breath, a flicker of green nestled within his ribs.
This was home.
Charlotte was his home.
Calliope was his home now.
“Hello, little one…” he murmured, voice cracking with tears. “I- I don’t know how to do this, but.. I swear to you, I will learn.”
And in that moment, as her heart fluttered in her chest, matching pace with his own, he realized something.
