So anakin teaches Cody how to carve wood and Cody makes the engagement ring lojack for obi wan, but he doesnt stop there.

He makes a bead earring for rex with a tiny piece of beskar in it and his little brother almost cries.

He makes viking bracelets for his batchmates and they all wear them proudly, even displaying them for pictures.

He makes a carved amulet for ashoka's headband with the togruta symbol for resilience. She wears it always.

He makes a pendant for anakin with twin suns in it and angel wings, and the kid hugs him for ten minutes.

Everyone is amazed and touched by these gifts. Cody feels proud of them

He puts trackers in every single one.

anakin is starved for compliments.

and its not that obi wan didn’t try his damn hardest to give him confidence but he was so young when he was given a padawan and he didn’t have that much confidence in his own abilities after qui-gon died.

anyway. imagine cody complimenting anakin on his flying one day, not his fighting or his shooting or anything war related. just a compliment on a trick or something anakin did to show off a little before landing. a compliment on something the general is passionate about. and anakin gets all red and flustered, trying to brush it off like no big deal, but its then that the commander realizes that anakin isn’t as cocky and self-confident as he comes across.

after that every time cody gets the chance he points out something anakin does, and every time the general falls silent before accepting with a little nod of his head and a small smile.
