She wants to laugh. she is so much older than the red yet he is acting so paternal it hurts. more than the ache in her chest from not breathing properly, more than the fatigue that settles easily into her bones. couldn’t even say what set her off. might have just been a sound, a smell or the sight of training. doesn’t know what kind of weapons the cheetahs use. can’t tell if they’re metal or not, doesn’t know if they clang when hit together. her wings flare as if to give her space, forcing chest muscles to expand and let her breathe. impulsively, she throws herself at Ignitus. maybe a little too hard, but she needs the other dragon. needs feel warm scales, smell her own kind, hear his heartbeat. Devani wraps her neck around his and leans in heavily. can feel his breathing from there and does her best to mimic it. smoke still leaves her open mouth, but she thinks it’s a little better.
