valjean is the type of dad to dawn his kitschy “kiss the cook” apron and play some groovy music while he sautés some leftover fries, peppers and eggs in oil to make a breakfast scramble for dinner. and he’s throwing some pillsbury cookies in the oven for cosette to eat later. and you better believe he’s opening a nice cold beer to enjoy alongside it.

Might drop a small modern au Les Mis fic where Valjean is going to propose to Javert cause they’ve been dating for a while but before he does he asks little Cosette if she would be ok with having two daddies and it’s just really fluffy and sweet

Valvert fic where Javert doesn’t tell everyone about their engagement because as much as he loves attention, he knows he’s going to get overwhelmed with all the questions. He and Valjean agree to at least give it a week before making any big announcements. A few days later, Bahorel is brought into the holding cell for some sort of petty crime idk probably setting off fireworks in the middle of the day and Javert asks to see him and goes full dad mode and lectures him about why he shouldn’t be doing dumb things. The entire time Bahorel isn’t looking up at him because he notices the ring but doesn’t know what to say. When he’s brought back to the cell for a few more hours, he texts all the Amis and co. like “yo you’re NOT going to believe what I just saw” and that’s how they all found out about the engagement

Javert and Valjean become father figures to the Amis and co..

Like Javert’s always there to bail one of them out of jail after a protest/doing graffiti/punching a fascist

Valjean who always makes sure Cosette is sent with baked goods for the meetings

Javert who gets up in the faces of people bothering his “kids”

Valjean who makes sure they all eat, take their medications if they need, and stay hydrated

Javert who starts to question his life decisions when he comes downstairs in the middle of the night after Valjean went to answer the door only to see all the Amis sitting on his couch while his husband reads them a picture book because they’re running from the police and scared
