The King is dead long live the King!
The above is one of those Dada-isms that so opened our literary possibility's and thought - it means the King is dead but the need for it, him lives on. God is dead, long live God - likewise used by some to exemplify the double negative of anti theism.' What is it you don't believe ? why God !' thus proving to unbelievers the existence of God. This argument only survives on the basis of wishful thinking - faith and a term knowingness, none of which constitutes proof. I was with a group of friends who I suspect all believe, although sometimes phrased as ' my higher power ' and a man caused a ripple of amused approval among the assembly by saying "god made me an Atheist " . The true meaning of this statement is simple irony and if it were true disclosing the God entity as a fool which if one looks at the absurdity of life would only reinforce this opinion and perhaps redefine a more profane statement ; God is a fool long live God.
