24. Playing airplane/train to get little one to open their mouth and take a bite of food. With Ashton plz 😅
“Come on, sweetheart.” Ashton groaned softly, getting slightly frustrated as he watched the six month old turn her head away from the spoon, that was covered in mashed carrots, yet again. She was sat in her high chair in front of him, and he had been trying to feed her lunch for the past 20 minutes, but it wasn’t going well. “Please eat your food for Daddy.”
You watched him attempt to feed her, chuckling to yourself as you cleaned up the kitchen from breakfast. It hadn’t been long since you stopped feeding her with a bottle for every meal, but so far, it had been a struggle trying to get her to eat solids. You still gave her a bottle for breakfast and before she went to sleep at night, but the two of you were trying your best to get her to eat solids throughout the day.
“She looks bored, Ash. Maybe you should try and make it a bit more fun.” You suggested, laughing again as you watched your daughter push Ashton away. Her big, hazel eyes were wandering around the room, her chubby hands playing with the toy that you had given to her to keep her occupied - she didn’t look interested in whatever Ashton was trying to feed her. “Make it interactive.”
“Okay bubba. I know what Daddy can do.” He said to his daughter, taking another spoonful out of the jar of carrots and getting her attention. He carefully moved the spoon up and down, beginning to make plane noises and exclaiming, “Look sweetheart! Here comes the aeroplane!”
She shrieked with laughter as she watched her Dad, and as she opened her mouth to laugh, Ashton also managed to get the food in her mouth. She chewed it slightly, most of the orange mush coming out of her mouth and spilling down her chubby chin, but she didn’t close her mouth or turn her head away from him so he saw that as a success.
“Here it comes again! Get ready for the aeroplane!” He called out, continuing to swoop the spoon up and down before landing it in her mouth. It took Ashton a few more attempts, but he finally got baby girl to voluntarily open her mouth for the food, so he didn’t have to sneak it in when she laughed anymore. And what he had forgotten, was that you were stood watching the whole time, watching as your baby girl’s eyes lit up every time Ashton brought the spoon towards her. You were happy watching the two loves of your life, and couldn’t be happier with your little family.

Dad!sos with Ashton, pregnant with second baby, huge bump. You do whatever you want with that.
expectant dad!ash would be so loving and caring and so attentive, but he’d literally turn into super dad when you already had one bubba to take care of. he’d basically have to be both parents because the huge bump would stop you from doing so much.
the hardest part for your son was when you were no longer able to pick him up because of the bump. and maybe ash wasn’t around but all bubba wanted was a cuddle from his mum but you couldn’t lean over to get him :( so you’d sit on the sofa and tell him to “come and give mama a cuddle. I can’t pick you up but we can still snuggle” but bubba would be so upset and would just go and sit in his bedroom. then ash would come home and find you in tears, gathering you in his arms as you explained what had happened, and his heart would hurt so much.
“bud, I promise mama still loves you. the baby is just making it hard for her and she has to be careful, okay? growing a baby is hard and it’s making her very tired.” he’d try to make sense of it but bubba is still upset, ashton sitting on his little race car bed with him and rocking him in his arms. “shall we go see mama?” and he’d nod so ashton would take you through to your bedroom where you’re sat in bed, and you’d hold your arms out and take your bubba into your arms. “I love you so much, baby boy. do you wanna say hi to your sister?” and then ashton would join in on the snuggles, as your son was watching the baby kick inside the huge bump. and even though there was the rough moments, you knew it would all be worth it when your new baby arrived 🥺
Shopping for nursery furniture for little one with Ashton please. I love your writing!
2. Shopping for nursery furniture for little one.
“We definitely need this, babe.”
You were sure Ashton had said that at least ten times since you had entered the baby store, the long aisles seeming never ending. The list that the two of you had prepared seemed to have gone out of the window, already feeling more overwhelmed than you had for the whole pregnancy, when you realised there were a lot more things that you’d need.
“If you keep saying that, we’re gonna end up buying the whole store, Ash.” You replied, rolling your eyes playfully, but wanting to stop messing around as your swollen feet were starting to ache from walking around for so long. “Let’s just get the main things that we definitely do need, then I promise we’ll look at the extra things after that.”
“I think we should get this crib, love.” He stated, directing your attention over to a beautiful wooden crib, that would fit perfectly into your nursery. The baby wouldn’t even be sleeping it in for a while - they would be in a moses basket in your shared bedroom for the first months of their life, but you knew the nursery wouldn’t feel complete without one. “It has the bars on the side so it will last until they grow to being a toddler.”
You nodded, agreeing with what he said, trying to picture it in the recently painted room - which had taken Ashton and Luke hours on end to finish. You were grateful for Luke’s help, knowing it would’ve taken Ashton much longer without him. The two of you had decided to keep it neutral - the walls were a pale cream with a deep brown carpet, and you knew Ashton would come up with something creative for the walls to make the room feel more like it belonged in the house. He had suggested a jungle theme, thinking that painting trees and animals around the room would brighten it up some.
“Yeah that’s perfect, Ash.” You agreed, as one of the shop assistants came over to help the two of you. She showed you the furniture that matched the crib, and deciding that it would be much easier to get the whole set, you organised for it to be delivered a few day later.
“Now we can look at the fun stuff!” Ashton exclaimed, linking your hand with his larger one after treating the two of you to a coffee break, knowing you wouldn’t be able to walk around for much longer without more discomfort.
“These would go with your jungle idea babe.” You picked up some large wall stickers, finding some of trees and others of monkeys as well as birds, all intended to fit together and create a whole jungle scene on the wall. “And using stickers would be much easier than trying to paint it.”
“Yeah, I’m not sure Luke would be very good at that.” He replied, making you snort with laughter as you placed the stickers into the basket. “It’s gonna be perfect, love.”
You smiled softly at him, feeling the soft kicks of your baby inside your stomach, Ashton’s hand comfortably resting there as you continued to browse the ‘fun section’ of the shop. “I know it will be, Ash. I can’t wait.”
