ITS VALENTINES DAY!
normally I'd post about Tak from Invader ZIM but I got the Snatcher thoughts real bad rn so here's a short comic about the big bad ghoul of the woods "celebrating" Valentines day! (In his own special way)
I think that a really cool au idea for a hat in time would be one based on the prince lindworm fairytale. Maybe not romantic, but there’s some dadcher potential… like it’s a story about a worm monster with no back legs who is secretly a prince who becomes human through the power of love/being hit with a really big stick, so I think that would be neat to do something with. I’m nowhere near talented enough to do anything with it though lol
I completely forgot that I drew this lol. But now that I see it again….I think I might have been onto something 👀
Is it really a coincidence that both characters are single adults (who used to be in a romantic relationship), both were considered royalty at some point, both sit in their homes in arm chairs reading books, both live isolated from society in houses located near the woods, both are video game characters, and just so happen to both be head-cannoned by fans to be foster parents to orphan children?? Idk man, that’s a lot of coincidences lol
Either way I’d love to see more fan art of these two chilling and talking about life or something. They could schedule play dates for Frisk and Hat Kid to play together and be friends idk
Leave Me Alone
Another Ghost Kid fic, it only took me forever to get back to it!

The sun not being visible during any time of day in Subcon made keeping track of time quite hard as it was always varying degrees of dark. But it was probably starting to near what counted as morning here. Which meant Snatcher should put down his book and get up to go check on the village, make sure no extra snow had fallen that needed clearing. He’d handled last night’s snow already but that had been hours ago so he should probably go out and check again before most everyone woke up.
And yet… he didn’t move. He wasn’t even actually reading any more, just holding the book closed in his hands so he had no excuse for not getting up and doing what he was supposed to. He was just… tired. Sleep wasn’t something he needed as a free floating ghost and wasn’t even possible but sometimes he really wished it was so he could just not be conscious for however long. … Dreams had been a thing though and given how he’d died; nightmares would’ve been inevitable. So perhaps this was for the best. … Still sucked though. But alas, no matter how much it sucked or how tired he was, he really did need to…
“Merry Xmas!” Hat Kid burst into the room, phasing through the wall of Snatcher’s private reading hollow, splaying her arms out wide.
Snatcher frowned his disapproval down at her. “I’m not in the mood, go away.”
Her smile faltered. “But… it’s Xmas.”
“How do you even know what that is?”
“The Subconites told me. They’re having a big party in the village with lots of pretty lights and they’re exchanging gifts and being merry and stuff. It’s wonderful! I thought you’d probably want to celebrate too so I came to get you.”
Seems morning had actually come and gone. Snatcher had lost track of time even more than he’d thought. “Well, I don’t. So go away.” He was even less in the mood to leave now. He lifted his book, flipping it open to where he’d left off.
“But… but… Xmas.”
Snatcher ignored her. She’d go away eventually if he ignored her for long enough.
A minute or two of silence passed, giving him hope that she might not be difficult for once but unsurprisingly didn’t last much longer than that. “Are you okay?” She sounded even more subdued than before.
No. Snatcher hated winter and had no real use for Xmas. Most of the Subconites liked it though so he let them celebrate without showing up to sour the mood of their party. They’d come to him later in the day with ‘merry Xmas’ wishes and small gifts, no big grand gestures though, he didn’t enjoy or even tolerate those and everyone knew it by now.
“Is it ‘cause of the snow and cold? I could bring some of the party to you in here if so. Oryou could have a party in your secret library, that would be cool, don’t you think?”
By now Snatcher had gotten good at ignoring her as he continued reading. Up until she put her little ghostly hands on the top of the book anyway, gently pulling it down and forcing him to look at her sad face. It almost made him feel a little bad.
“Is there anything I can do to help?”
“Leave me alone.”
“But…”
“Just go enjoy the party, all right? I’ll be fine.”
“But…”
“Kid, I’m serious. Go have fun. Don’t worry about me or whatever. I’ll be out later. I want to be alone right now.”
“Oh, uh… okay. Are you sure you want to be alone though? I could sit with you quietly and read or something.”
“I’m sure.” She was a kid, still relatively fresh to being a ghost too, so she shouldn’t have to sacrifice an opportunity to have some fun to spend time with a grouchy old ghost like himself. Also, he did just want to be alone for a while; it wasn’t good to wallow in bad feelings but sometimes he just had to let himself be tired. Company, even quiet company, never helped in those times, it only ever made him mad. The Subconites all knew that by now, hopefully Hat Kid would figure it out soon too. “So go, shoo.” He took a hand off his book to make a shooing gesture at her.
She hesitated for a few seconds more before pulling back. “All right. But if you start to feel lonely, don’t hesitate to summon me.” She held up her hand, the one with the magic summoning bracelet he’d made for her.
“Yeah, yeah. Just go have fun. Merry Xmas or whatever.” He made the shooing motion at her again.
“Okay. Merry Xmas.” She smiled and waved at him before leaving, phasing back through the wall.
Snatcher sunk back into his chair and resumed reading. Perhaps he even felt a little bit better with the reminder that later, when he felt up to company and leaving his hollow, he’d be greeted by people having a good time and wanting to wish him the same.
I'm tired, so here is a small doodle of snatcher being a pillow for hat kid
