HI. Maybe you can help me hunt something down. A while ago I saw a cartoon comparing self-dx with official-dx. There was a panel with like "I spent a lot of time researching why I felt different and eventually...." and another panel of someone in a lab coat saying something like "I googled a checklist and..." Every couple months I find myself wishing I had it, but I can't find it anywhere. Any chance it sounds familiar to you?

It’s vaguely familiar but I can’t remember where I saw it!

I checked my archive and couldn’t find it, so I either saw it on Twitter, or during the period when I was adamant that I would only reblog uncaptioned pictures if I could add captions myself, but when my hand-pain was getting bad enough that that just turned into me never reblogging pictures...

Just curious. When you're anthros, do you picture them in your head as having fur or bare skin? I ask because I often find it aesthetically problematic. Some artists show them with obvious fur in some place (eg chest fluff, ear tufts...) and very obviously no fur in others, but there's no visible transition.

Well, ya gotta remember that art styles focus on suggestion over realism, for various reason. Drawing fur in the most obvious places where it would show (dramatic turns of planes) gives the impression that the whole body is furred (or is should, if your willing to suspend disbelief and buy the illusion.

When I draw pony anthros, I tend not to draw tufts of fur, seeing as equines don’t really long fur, but very short-furred coats--I think the smooth texture does a better job representing that. Drawing other kinds of anthro though, I’m much more inclined to suggest long fur.
