What was this nonsense? He was staring at a mirror image of himself, and not only that but the image wished to have him in its bed! Talk about awkward indeed! Thorin's thick brows furrowed and he took a step closer to his "reflection", a hand reaching out to stroke his beard to see if he was tangible or not. Sure enough, he was. "It would seem that the House of Durin has come to visit on this eve," Aredhel smiled in welcome, bowing her head slightly. "I pray no long-kept grudge should make ill your welcome,"

Thorin looked down at Bilbo as the look of death creeped over his eyes. He knew the Hobbit wouldn't survive the fatal blow from the sword. Pulling the hobbit closer to him, tears streamed down his face. "I'm sorry this happened, Bilbo," Thorin whispered, rocking the hobbit in his arms. "I'm so sorry I couldn't bring you home.." As the hobbit looked up at Thorin, the dwarf could tell he was on the edge of death. His eyes slowly closed and Thorin kissed his forehead, losing all of his sanity.
Bilbo smiled, slightly delirious, and reached up to cover one of Thorin's hands with his, patting it softly. As though he was the one who needed comfort, not Bilbo. "Don't be sorry. I've had a home all my life. I may never see home again... but that is a sacrifice I'm glad to make... if it means giving yours back to you." And with a bright, peaceful smile, his lip trembling only slightly with fear, the hobbit fell silent.
“Well, hello!” Thorin said.
She stands, expression softening. "Well met, King Thorin. I am Birna, daughter of Brun. At th' service of ye and yer family."
