“Who did this to you?”
“Hm?” Midoriya looked up, and his smile dropped away as he took in the horrified expression on Toshinori’s face. “What do you mean? Who did what?”
They were training at the beach, and the summer sun was finally too hot to bear. Midoriya had stripped away his shirt and turned, ready to continue hauling the broken refrigerator across the sand, when Toshinori saw them. Scar. Tiny scars, some as starbursts, some just raised lines, that peppered Midoriya’s back. Some were old, but some weren’t. Some were barely even scabbed over.
It made Toshinori ill to see it. His boy shouldn’t be hurt like this. Training took a toll on the body, and Yagi always carefully watched Midoriya for any sign of strained muscles, made sure to incorporate rest days into the schedule. He was careful that training was grueling but never actively harmful. He took care.
Someone else, apparently, did not.
