I love your Ralsusie fanchild, what’s her relationship with Noelle in specific like? You mentioned Noelle and Kris are like god parents to them, but can you talk about what they and Noelle did when she babysat? What did Noelle think of her, and what do they think of Noelle?

diana loves her godmom! i think noelle and ralsei share a protectiveness of diana and sometimes it's embarrassing or funny, but it does make them go to them if they need help haha. can't decide yet if noelle has kids of her own in my AU so she spoils diana rotten like she's her own kid (i mean kinda is if you squint and see the qpr ralsuselle-).

she and kris take care of diana at least once a month, i think. especially when susie and ralsei get really busy running the Dark World. they'd love to take care of diana 24/7 but they also get tired and have responsibilities outside of her. they make it clear that they're there for her and will prioritize her above everything else, but that they also need to take care of people as their job. i think diana also has the understanding that kris and noelle are 2nd parents to them, so they do see both as family.

when they do get to take care of diana, they still do their best to be serious in their roles as 2nd parents. nothing much changes as ralsei and susie already let diana be responsibly carefree. they do their best to make her stay feel like a special occassion, though. pillow forts, sleeping in the living room for fun, breakfast for dinner, all that jazz. they both like taking diana clothes shopping just so she has clothes to her palette (kris especially puts importance to this as a kid who got stuck with hand-me-downs a lot).

as a kid, they probably asked noelle a lot of toys and hobby stuff and noelle couldn't say no haha. she probably helped fund for a lot of diana's interests and the ralsusie fam is grateful for that (ralsei or susie didn't ask. noelle just volunteered haha). when she's older, though, she leans to noelle a lot with help for schoolwork because god knows that is not ralsei or susie or kris' forte HAH. think diana would at least get into the honor roll with noelle's help 😌

all in all, diana's surrounded by people who absolutely love her to the core. they're a pretty happy kid in that regard 💖

curious what made you so immediately sure it was brian that bert smoked crack with? idk much about him so I'm curious

I'm going insane, because I've been looking for the primary source that I know mentions (albeit briefly) Brian's drug use all morning and I cannot for the life of me find it. I think I need to start archiving these things like academic papers at this point it's getting ridiculous.

Will keep you posted as I continue to comb the vaults etc.

With that being said, I do remember that he went to rehab in Utah sometime in 2005 after a multi-day bender, something I can only find reference to on an old LJ primer now but which was published in at least one magazine at the time.

Essentially, without that lost primary source I have no tangible evidence to hand over to you which shows that he's the guy Bert's referring to, but:

he is absolutely the type of manager to do that -- both in a "yes I would like some drugs" way and in a "if you're doing this with me I can at least keep an eye on you and I'd rather you do this where I can see it" way, and

the timeline is right insofar as we know that Bert and Gerard were getting up to multi-drug adventures in the 2002-2004 period when Brian was managing both bands, often concurrently (so those drugs would be freely available and he'd be there to partake).

That'd be the implicit racism thanks for asking!

A non snappy response, aka to explain what I mean by that:

A lot of fanon tropes implicitly reinforce a very white, America-centric POV, and in a universe like the GFFA which lies somewhere between heavily Asian-inspired and gloriously multicultural, that really rubs me the wrong way. (To clarify upfront: it is not racist or whatever to enjoy these tropes or to write them, but it worries me when people don't even seem to realise it)

An obvious, innocuous-seeming example is the tendency to use 'Ben' instead of Obi-Wan's actual name in AUs — especially when others' names (Anakin, Mace, Cody, etc) aren't changed as well. The biggest difference between those names and Obi-Wan's is that Obi-Wan's is obviously Asian inspired, and theirs aren't. It's not something I expect most people even think about! But it always leaves a sinking feeling in my chest.

(Obviously if, like in canon, Obi-Wan is using Ben as a pseudonym while in hiding that's a very different kettle of fish.)

A larger example is how incredibly common it is to cast the Jedi as space-Christians — some common examples being focus on tenets (the Jedi Code, which is a meditation mantra, not a rulebook), the pervasive Catholic Guilt which is very explicitly Christian in nature, the emphasis on worship as ritual rather than a state to work towards, the generalised "all organised religion must be Bad" sentiments that feel very specifically ex-Christian in nature.

Thinking about one's own religion and expressing thoughts through fiction/art isn't an issue in and of itself.

The thing is, the Jedi are explicitly based on Asian Buddhists. Not just in set dressing, but from the ground up, from their beliefs and the way they act, to their clothing to the structure of their temple — to strip that away is to remove what makes the Jedi the Jedi. It's to remove the Asian-ness and replace it with something predominantly white. It implies that Asian influence shouldn't or can't exist in the GFFA, or that there's something inferior or wrong about Buddhism that needs to be "fixed".

Again this isn't something where I think that fan authors are sitting there going "muhahaha I'm going to be RACIST today", I know that's not what's happening. But when so much Jedi-centric content being produced minimises the Asian influence and pushes a western one, it starts to say "there's something wrong with this group, we're trying to erase it because there shouldn't be representation at all" — an issue of scale, at its core.

(Then ofc there's all the "the Jedi steal babies" and "the Jedi ban emotions" and "the Jedi need to be destroyed" which, entirely separate from the above, if you replace 'Jedi' with 'Buddhists' I'm kind of starting to wonder why you hate Asian people/Asian religions, you know?)

I won't even get into the fanon surrounding the clones, because that'd require me to talk about KT far more than I'd like to on any day, but especially today 🤣

How exhausted were both parents after not only a solar eclipse but by diana’s arrival? Did they need to heal or just poof baby surprising everyone

susie didn't have to do much. she was busy helping ralsei basically will their child to existence and that got her tired, for sure. but ralsei was the one who did the work. he basically had to hold onto a small pocket of pure darkness with light and that was hard to do up until the eclipse. pretty much wiped him out by the time diana was "born".

it's a purely magical process but it's still physically straining (no sleep, holding the same position the whole time, preparing the tether for the baby, etc.)

i have lore for how hybrid lightner/darkner conception works in my head but i'll save it under the cut mostly because i feel nervous ppl are going to be weird abt this.

most of this is inspired by how @/allesiathehedge tackled monster conception. parents of any gender can carry. i don't think the world of UTDR conforms to gender norms anyway. ralsei carried diana voluntarily (and also susie doesn't want to :P)

but yeah, making a hybrid child is a very careful and tedious process that requires timing and planning. i like the idea of having children being an intentional process and it hinging on two people choosing to will their children to existence.

i will ask people to not be weird abt this. this is a very personal and meaningful thing to me as i want to become a parent someday. i don't want people to make this weirdly sexual or anything. if you want to see more content of me talking abt this and making art abt this, then i ask to please show some decorum and be civil and adults about this. bringing children to the world out of pure love and choice is important to me and it's why i have such a detailed lore abt how this could happen for ralsusie in the first place.

so yeah. don't be weird abt this. otherwise, i will not talk and make content about this topic anymore and that is a hard boundary i will set.

oh and yes, diana has a tether or a light world object that is associated with her. unlike darkners, though, she can exist alongside it in the light world. i haven't exactly decided on what she is yet but i'll let you guys know when i do :P

yes, ralsei still gets post partum blues and symptoms after bringing diana to existence. i feel like actively using your body to create something for a long time and the task finally being done can make anyone have all kinds of symptoms that weaken or tire them out. not just with birth, even creatively. so yeah. he's tired and emotionally sensitive for a bit lol

RANDOM SHADOWED PRINCE AU LORE:

The Fun Gang was designed with their "LEGEND" versions in mind. As usual, Susie defies the image (opting for a tunic-like garment instead of a vest). Kris joined in too, albeit only making a slight alteration (their hair). This time, Ralsei follows the picture almost accurately which is ironic since he doesn't know of The Prophecy (yet). (Also I believe the Legend versions of the Heroes are (canon) Ralsei's interpretations, not the actual Prophecy's. You could say this AU is wish fulfilment of a wish fulfilment :D)

Speaking of designs, Ralsei's cape came from Seam. Not only did they say that it belonged to a person who ran a ferry on a river, but they also said that it's worn by river people of past and future :D (I know I already mentioned this in the reference sheet :P)

Lancer was one of the Dark World princes that Susie and Kris submitted to the Holidays. He was not the Dark Prince so they let him go. Him, Susie, and Kris met in the beginning of year 1.

Kris and Susie submitted many princes, princesses, and monarchs to the Holidays. They kept refusing them. (Also the reason of many conflicts between Susie and Noelle)

They can't close Dark Fountains for some reason. They haven't even figured out where the main leak came from. There are multiple leaks that encompass the Dark World. It's like the entirety of Hometown is frozen on the in-between stages of a normal Dark Fountain and the Roaring.

Susie and Noelle dated for about a couple of months until they broke up. Kris and Berdly was a shorter couple of weeks. Suselle broke up for conflicting goals, Kerdly broke up because one of them chickened out 😁

Speaking of, a little bit after the break up, Susie and Kris vs. Noelle and Berdly developed a very magical girl-style rivalry where Berdly is the dumb henchman and Noelle is the real mastermind. Susie makes fun of Berdly for this.

Everyone is a tad bit older than their canon counterparts (probably 2-3 years older). In my head, Susie, Kris, and the rest of the students are around 17 years old. Ralsei's 16 (though he hasn't technically lived 16 years). I headcanon their canon ages to be around 14-15.

One piece of the Prophecy is missing. It's assumed that it was just lost in time or the Prophecy handed to everybody is the full one. Conveniently, it is the piece that canon Susie punched.

Kris and Susie believe they know the whole Prophecy. No, they actually don't. Only the Holidays know...

It's based off Anastasia solely for the circumstance and dynamics of the plot. 2 people on a mission to find a missing monarch to submit to an authoritative figure, and the missing monarch is in the dark (ha) of the schemers' schemes. It's not a one to one comparison kinda thing but Ralsei is Anastasia, Susie is Dimitri, and Kris is Vlad. And yes, Ralsusie will be in it because it's MY AU DAMMIT!

If anyone tries to reach out to Asriel (or for anyone outside of Hometown for that matter), they will only hear garbage noise.

The School is the only pocket of the Light World that remains the Light World. In the Dark World view, it's seen as the opposite of a Dark Fountain and called a Light Fall.

The heroes' symbols in this AU's DELTARUNE emblem is flipped. The Lightners are facing downward while the Prince faces up.

The plot still follows the chapters with a lot of alterations. The main "villains" and "secret bosses" are the same. But their motives are twisted from the original.

There will be a Snowgrave/Weird Route. It just happens in a very odd way. (And it won't be the main storyline. Just an alternate version of it.)

If canon Ralsei was born burdened with the knowledge by default, SP!Ralsei is born with that knowledge stolen or put away. He genuinely does not know his purpose or his world. He is a blank slate. No one but Seam knows if it was taken from him or withheld.

I honestly have more to say but I don't want to give away too much now 😛 I want to make comics but I don't want to set goals this time. Just make them up as they go, not arrange them. I find that structuring my work is very ineffective and restrictive for me. I want to remove all the pressure of making it "a big thing" so I'll just make the comics whenever I feel like it✨ I won't schedule anything either. Just make whatever I'm compelled to make 💖

I made this AU after rewatching a couple of YouTubers react to Anastasia and my brainworms were like "yk this would make for a cute AU idea". It sat in my brain for a bit and I found a song on Tiktok that convinced me it would be a good song for the aftermath of Ralsei discovering the full Prophecy.

And the rest was history :P
