Star Wars Count Dooku Leaves the Jedi Order & Joins Darth Sidious

One thing I think people overlook when they say "the Jedi should have listened to Dooku on Geonosis" is that Dooku had already betrayed the Jedi Order. Regardless of whether or not you think his disillusionment with the Jedi Order was valid, he quite literally betrayed all of them in the worst way possible.

Dooku could have just walked away, but instead he decided to weaponize the compassion of the people who had trusted him for years, and he fell to the dark side. Dooku became cruel, unmoved by the plight of others, used his own powers to oppress, and killed without mercy.

What reason did the Jedi have to even trust Dooku on Geonosis? Why would the Jedi suddenly take Dooku at his word after he had already demonstrated that he was willing to deceive, manipulate, and kill? "Well Dooku was right and the Jedi were too arrogant to believe him" when he fully betrayed their trust. Obi-Wan rejected what Dooku was offering because he refused the dark side, but he still reported everything that Dooku said to him back to the Jedi Council afterwards.

The Jedi address this at the end of Attack of the Clones. They make it a point to keep a closer eye on the Senate, which becomes increasingly difficult for them to do because the war is keeping them occupied. It's almost like Dooku telling Obi-Wan about Darth Sidious but not telling him that Darth Sidious was Supreme Chancellor Palpatine was all part of the whole game. He revealed just enough to make the Jedi suspicious, but that still wasn't much to go on. Even if they had suspected Palpatine was the Sith Lord, they had no proof.

It's not an accident this was revealed to them just as the Clone Wars began. It wasn't like the Jedi were standing around doing nothing while Darth Sidious gained more and more power. They were dying in a war they actively tried to avoid. A war that was orchestrated by two Sith Lords whose ultimate goal was the destruction of the Jedi Order and, eventually, unlimited power.

Dooku wasn't warning Obi-Wan out of loyalty to the Jedi. He was trying to manipulate him. He revealed just enough truth to create uncertainty without revealing anything that would actually stop Darth Sidious' plan.

Many wrongly believe Anakin choose Padme over the Jedi and that´s why they hate the anidala relationship but that´s actually false, in ROTS, yes Anakin fell to the darkside to try to save Padme from death but that wasn´t the reason why he agreed to destroy the Jedi order the reason why he did it was because he choose the galaxy over the jedi, Palpatine convinced him there would be a non-stop civil war between the sith and the jedi if he didn´t completely destroy the jedi order so darkside Anakin did it, thinking to kill Palpatine right after he killed the separatist leadership . In the clone wars cartoon, they briefly made a reference towards this when darkside Anakin told Obi-Wan he would not understand what he would have to do to stop the civil war.

Anakin: You will not understand what I have to do to end the Clone War. You will try to stop me. Obi-Wan: Anakin! Why?! Anakin: I'm sorry. I have seen that it is the Jedi who will stand in the way of peace.

Worst solution ever given he bassically judged who was able to live and who would have to die for "peace in the galaxy" but honestly that´s exactly what the Jedi order teached him, by deciding to leave his mother in slavery so Anakin could cut his "attachment" to her and yet rescuing the heir of Jabba the Hutt, because it was politically convenient or not rescuing their clone soldiers so they could keep focused on the mission for the war effort. They indirectly teached Anakin some sacrifices would have to be made for the good and peace in the galaxy even if you sacrificed a few individuals. I am sure they didn´t mean this directly but it was actually what they did to Anakin and they just never expected this same logic to be applied to them as a group.

In the PT Anakin went from trying to save his soldiers and obi-wan mid mission even if that was dangerous, sacrifice his own resources to help a planet in distress even if he lost the oportunity to free himself and his mother simply because it was the right thing to do, to agreeging to"destroy both sides of the war" the jedi and the sith and bring peace in the galaxy" which was just darkside Anakin applying teachings from both the Jedi and Palpatine. The reason why he wanted to put Padme on the throne wasn´t just because she was his wife but because he knew for a fact Padme truly cared for the well being of the people in the galaxy.

Anakin would have been better left on Tatooine, become an adult with Shmi, Owen and Beru and deal with the whole galactic drama when he was old enough like Luke to defend his own perspective, being his own self and believing in "helping everybody he could out of compassion" as he did as a child because it was the right thing to do, not the convenient thing to do, instead of being absorbed into the "ends justify the means" mentality both the Jedi and the Sith applied when it was convenient.

Anakin had all the qualities to be a Jedi, just not a prequel era jedi and that´s the tragedy. He finally found out that jedi in Luke, in his choice to be compassionate over revenge on forgiveness over duty, that Jedi inspired him to become the person he used to be, the person Luke and the galaxy truly needed.

everytime I see "The Jedi Order failed Anakin" I laugh because I keep imagining a jedi philosophy or history teacher that keeps failing Anakin in their class because he always writes essays on how fascism and authoritarianism is good actually because you just have to put the "right" people in charge

like anakin being a slave in his childhood isn't some sort of divine trial that tests both the Order and the Republic on whether they have the right to live and need "divine cleansing". The Force is not God or any mythological gods, it is an energy field that is sustained by the living. The slave part of Anakin's story is an easy way for the audience to realise anakin's character flaws and what he will struggle with his whole life. Star Wars is sometimes that deep but these are kid's movies that supposed to be easy to understand. Anakin can't be some sort of space Jesus because Jesus actually lived a sinless life and sacrificed himself to right humanity's wrongdoings and offer a path to forgiveness. Anakin murdered an entire tribe then went on to become the right-hand man to the equivalent of Hitler. People should stop reading the "born of no father" part of the prophecy and start thinking about the "destroy the sith and bring balance to the Force". The sith are killed, balance is regained. It's that simple.

At the same time Anakin is not Zeus hiding himself as an old man and beggar and goes out to some village to see if they are compassionate with him. And when the village failed with the exception of an old couple, they were flooded and the village destroyed while the old woman and man were rewarded by turning into a tree as a symbol of love everlasting.

There is a reason why Yoda in ESB says about the Force that "Life creates it, makes it grow, it's energy surrounds us and binds us." The Force cannot exist without life in the galaxy. You can't actually put your christian or catholic undertones in it because God existed before the Creation of everything while the Force cannot. It's like comparing apples to oranges.

writing jedi is so difficult.

In my fic, Reva was saved from the inquisitors tower after a year or so, and with the help of jedi she is in the best conditions to start healing. However, she's a ball of anxiety in the face of the future.

How do I write 19 years old jedi, when she experiences irrational fear and then thinks "wait, there is no reason for me to be afraid right now. why am i afraid? it clouds my mind and makes me say angry words to other people. I'm not like that, I'm a jedi. I'm going to meditate and then take a nap".

Jedi taught her emotional regulation and diplomacy, how am I supposed to turn it into a conflict?
