A little insite
I'm seeing a lot of shit going on my dash about toys r us returning. Everyone is bashing the company and getting in an uproar. I understand because of how the employees were treated, I was one of those employees that stayed until my store closed. But what I dont think people are realizing, its not the same owners. Its being rebranded by a prior CEO.
We knew of two people who wanted to buy the intellectual property for TRU and bring it back once the bankruptcy was completed. We knew one of them would succeed. At my store we were even talking about the prior CEO (not the one who took a chunk of money from the bankruptcy and ran) buying the rights, rebranding the name, opening pop up express stores during the holidays and come January reopen brick and mortor stores. Guess what we are seeing now. EXACTLY THAT. This is not the guy that took what was it 13million and ran. The people who owe the employees money, from what i have read, are not the ones bringing back Geoffrey.
On the thing about people wishing the stores in other countries will fail, those stores are their own thing. The Canadian stores were bought out by vendors and from what I could tell that happened to other branches as well. Every branch was set to close not just the US branch in the begining. Then slowly we heard of the other locations staying open for one reason or another.
In short, this is something that was bound to happen. The intellectual property was already in the works of being sold as the stores were closing. We didn't think much of the selling of the name being big news. We only "care" about the "come back".
