Child Ballad 23 - The Daemon Lover A man (usually the Devil in disguise) seeks out a former lover and finds her married to a ship's carpenter with at least one child. He entices her to leave both behind and come with him, luring her with many ships laden with treasure. Together, they board one of his ships which, in most versions, has no crew. She soon begins to lament leaving her children behind, but is heartened by spying a bright hill in the distance. Her lover informs her that the hill is heaven, where they are not bound. Instead he indicates a much darker coast, which he tells her is Hell. He then breaks the ship in half with his bare hands and feet, drowning them both. In other versions, the rejected husband commits suicide and the ship is wrecked by a storm at sea.

On their third album, the second one featuring Mariska Veres, Shocking Blue played around with a bluegrass style of psychedelic rock. The guitarist still occasionally rocked the sitar, but this record focuses more centrally on his straight-up awesome guitar and banjo skills because that's where the band truly shines. I think the lyrics on this album branched into more creative directions that on their previous two releases. Also their drummer and bassist are always kicking ass in the background. I'm definitely going to try to track down a vinyl copy of this when my exams are over.

Which isn't really that impressive, since I only know a couple, and I am not that good at singing.
