If they’re feeling upset, who is your character they likely to talk to for comfort, or do they keep it inside? Why does your character seek out this person/why do they keep their emotions inside?

Sereana and her brothers tend to turn to each other and Itharion, their dad, though specifically who they’ll seek out depends on the situation. For example, Glenn sometimes struggles with his own sense of self worth compared to the reputations of Daer, their father and grandfather. He tends to go to Sereana when his family’s legacy weighs on him, because in an odd way she understands it, even though she’s got the opposite problem of knowing nothing about her past. Daer and Koro often seek each other or their dad out more often, especially when they were children, because of the sense of big brother responsibility and wanting to reassure their younger siblings that they can rely on them. But there’s often something were they’ll go to each of the others in turn for.

For a long time Albert would almost exclusively confide in Lambert. Before his parents’ and grandparents deaths he was very close with them they would be the first people he would seek out, but after their deaths he became a lot more closed off for a good part of his teenage years. He had been close to Itharion and Ronan until his relationship with them was strained by the death of his parents, but it gets better again later. Lambert does tend to manage his stress better than Albert, but after Albert’s actions strained not just his but also Lambert’s relationship with a bunch of their support network he goes through an unhealthy period of bottling a lot up, unless Albert pushes him to spit it out.

Itharion and Ronan have a close relationship and tend to confide in each other often. However Ronan is more open with his problems with his daughter, Nerydia, when she’s older than Itharion is with his children. This is largely because Itharion was alone for a good part of his life so he’s used to bottling a lot up, either because he didn’t want to burden anyone or out of necessity for his own safety. For context, I’m still working out the dates, but Itharion was born during the war that lead to creation of Guardians, even though he didn’t become one until  much much later. He was orphaned as a young teen and spent a long time wandering alone during and after the war, and he’s a few centuries old. Some habits are hard to break. In addition he knows he’s shouldering a lot of personal and political baggage, and he’s hesitant to share that with others, especially his children, given that he feels his own childhood was cut short even by human standards. Despite not being the best at going to others for comfort he is a very comforting and reassuring person for others.
