writing something steve harrington-centered is always so... emotional. like this is my love letter to you. to steve harrington. you're not real. but you are the closest thing i have to a soulmate. i've loved so many characters before you. but no one has seen me as you have seen me. there's something about you. that i haven't understand in myself. so this is my love letter. my fiftieth one. not my last one. and it still isn't enough. i will write more. and it still won't be enough.
due to an overwhelming onslaught of b0ts following my account (thirteen thousand to be exact), i have decided to private all my posts to help stop the number of them following me per hour. Some post may be missing or have broken links.
if you are looking for a fic or blurb, please head over to my ao3 and see if i have archived it over there. i have yet to archive them all but i plan to do so in the near future. if you're looking for a specific read and can’t find it, please send me a message/ask and i will happily un-private the post for you.

Eddie who never wears enough layers, always just wearing his usual denim and leather combo. Steve makes it his mission to keep him warm, always layering an extra jacket so he can take it off so he can nonchalantly give it to Eddie when he starts shivering.
Eddie who never wears beanies. The last time he complained his ears were getting cold, Steve gives him a 10 minute lecture before finally giving up. Steve had to hold his ears in his gloved hands. The look Eddie gives him as he holds his face is enough to warm up his insides.
Eddie who never wears mittens. Steve has given him maybe three pairs of his gloves already and he still somehow always forgets to bring it. The last time they had to walk, Steve had to stuff Eddie's hand on his winter jacket, hands intertwined, just to keep him warm.
Eddie who never wears scarves. Steve has to always have one wrapped around his passenger seat for Eddie. The van breaks more often in the winter season, so Eddie's been hitching rides with him now, and Steve always, always wraps him in the same baby blue scarf before he leaves for work. Eddie says it's ruining his style but he's always bundled up in it anyway.
Eddie who likes cold drinks on winter. Steve hates it, so he always has a thermos of hot chocolate he hands Eddie before he goes to work. Eddie doesn't say anything, just smiles and says, "Thanks, Stevie."
Steve starts liking Eddie Munson in the spring, with fights against a monster, with blood drying in his hands, with cut off sheets made to be a rope to save his little brother.
Steve starts knowing Eddie Munson in the summer, with pool parties, late nights filled with secrets and smoking weed, with adjusting to this new normal after all the monsters.
Steve falls in love with Eddie Munson in the winter, with red cheeks, intertwined hands in pockets to keep warm, with snow flakes stuck in his hair, with small smiles as they sip hot chocolates together.
They fall in love, easy and fast, just like the snow falling as they finally kiss for the first time.
"You're gonna get cold." Steve murmurs against Eddie's lip.
Eddie smiles cheekily, slipping his hand in Steve's winter jacket again, "You always keep me warm enough."
I wrote this so I can remix it. This fic but Steddie version. Steve's concussions comes back biting his ass at 55, this time in the form of Alzheimer's. He starts forgetting about stuff, starts forgetting about where he placed his keys, forgetting about dates.
Then it progresses to something worse, Steve starts going to places and completely forgets where he is, he forgets what he's doing in the middle of the day, forgets how to drive. The tipping edge is when completely forgets who Max is.
They bring him to the Doctor, and the Doctor diagnoses him with Alzheimer's.
It's Eddie's worst fear brought to life. The love of his life slowly forgetting him, slowly forgetting the life they've built together. The strongest man he's ever known, the same man who carried his half bleeding body while he was also bleeding out of hell, his health deteriorating in front of him.
Steve tries to track it all down, tries to write as much as possible, scrap books for a whole week straight, piecing together pieces of memories.
There's good and bad days. Steve almost always remembers Eddie. Robin moves to their home, bringing Nancy with her. It's exactly how they lived in the 90's but now Steve's the one they take care of.
The good days are the best. Steve can walk on his own, and do stuff on his own. He knows his way in his own home. He calls the Party, asks them how they are and talks to their kids and asks them how they are. He eats dinner with the girls and Eddie, asks them how work is. They sleep together, it's like any other normal night with his husband.
The bad days. The bad days come frequent. Eddie can handle it. Steve has taken care of each and everyone of them in the last 35 years, this is nothing. But there are days when he can't, when he can't handle the vacant look in his lover's eyes, that's when Robin and Nance takes over.
There are days where it's so bad they can't even call it bad. Eddie will give Robin and Nance a look and they will know. It's okay, Eddie can do this. He can open a scrap book and show Steve their wedding day. He can tell him that Will and Mike, yeah, they got married too. Max and Lucas have kids. El's a daycare teacher. Dustin's a doctor. He can retell their life story to him because he's always done this. He can tell Steve for what he thinks is the 22nd time, that Hop died back in 2019 from lung cancer. He can tell Steve that Joyce passed away 6 months after that. He can hold him through the grief again. He can hold him as he mourns over his adoptive parents death like he hasn't before.
Eddie will love him through the world ending, through storm and rain, through heaven and earth opening up. There's nothing that can make him stop loving this man.
The kids visit frequently. They don't care if it's a bad day or a good day. They visit Steve when they can. Brings old photos and new stories. The flights get pretty expensive, but no one fucking cares.
Robin isn't even phased. She will love and care for him in any shape or form, even if there's days where he doesn't know who she is. She's been there for everything in his life and she swears not even Alzheimer's can tear her apart from her soulmate. Steve can forget about her, but Robin knows his soul will never do.
This is nothing. Because this is Steve. Steve who took care of them since they were as young as 13. Steve who didn't stop caring for them even if they were well into their 30's. Steve who airmails them a care package when they're sick, when you're close enough he will make you a bowl of soup. Steve who knitted them scarfs and mittens for one christmas because he can't stand seeing them cold. Steve who offered up his life for them and will still do it today without a doubt.
on my last hc, i said steddie goes to new zealand for their honeymoon because you can't tell me that eddie's not the kind of guy that would be like "you know where the perfect honeymoon would be? new zealand!" and steve agrees, thinking they're going to see mountains or hot springs or some shit but when they arrive there eddie informs him that he signed them up for the 14 day lord of the rings package tour all over new zealand 😭
when steve finds out, he's speechless and shocked and eddie's giving him the biggest puppy eyes, "are you going to take this away from your husband?!"
when steve finally sighs and agrees, eddie takes out a whole ass costume and gallops to the group 😭
also edit: after the 14 day tour, eddie's so tired, steve has to carry him to the hotel and eddie's babbling incoherent stuff to steve but he does manage to catch "i am so happy. married to my dream guy and i just saw a hobbit-hole." steve rolls his eyes, but atleast the nerd he's married to is really happy and they really were right when they said "happy husband happy life" <3
I fucking love the idea that when Eddie and Steve start dating they both get shovel talks from multiple people.
Steve is nervous to get one from Wayne but then when it finally happens, Wayne is chill about the whole thing. He just tells Steve to take care of Eddie and to never hurt him. What Steve realizes is he should've been more nervous about Eddie's Hellfire friends. Gareth, Jeff and Paul (I named the unknown dude Paul) sit him down in a dark room with candles and it looks like an actual satanic cult. They go in heavy detail about how they would hurt him if this was all a joke and if he was only playing with Eddie. Steve also gets one from Dustin, but it's only a formality and Dustin promised him that Eddie got the same one.
Eddie did get the same talk from Dustin. It's all, "if you hurt my brother, I will ask El to open a portal to the Upside Down and I will kick you into it." Eddie actually found it endearing. Eddie expected getting one from Robin and thought that would be the worst. (It wasn't) But Robin was actually the nicest and just told him that if he did hurt Steve, none of them needed to do anything because that would be the biggest mistake he'll do and he'll never be able to forgive himself for it. Eddie also surprisingly gets one from Nancy. She just tells him to please take care of him and to not hurt him, not when she's got some new guns in her room. The actual worst shovel talk was with Erica. Eddie would shiver when he remembers what they talked about and won't ever tell anyone or Steve what they talked about.
OKAY I AM GOING TO WRITE THIS at some point BUT!!! The b99 thing that Amy tucks her hair behind her ears when she's around someone she likes but with Eddie.
Dustin's been around Eddie and his friends enough times and once, Gareth told him that if Eddie likes someone he tucks his hair behind his ear. They call it "Munson's double tuck."
Dustin's trying to wingman the two of them together when he notices the lingering stares Steve gives Eddie and the endless pet names Eddie calls Steve. He's a month into trying to set the two up and he's still actively waiting for Eddie to fucking tuck his hair, WHY HASN'T HE TUCKED HIS HAIR???
Finally, because he was getting desperate, he finally tells Steve that he knows he likes Eddie. Steve's confused but happy that at least he doesn't have to come out (and his kid loves him despite it) to Dustin. Dustin doesn't even care and asks if he's seen Eddie do the double tuck, even demonstrating what it is when Steve stared at him in confusion. Dustin explains that he only does it around people he likes. Since then, Steve's been on the look out for it. Any time Eddie's hand grazes his hair, his heart picks up.
One night, Steve and Robin goes to the Hide Out to watch Corroded Coffin perform. Just after they perform, as Steve is pushing down the crowd to get to Eddie, he sees Eddie talking to the stage manager and he fucking double tucks his messy hair. Steve's stuck in the crowd watching.
The next morning, he tells Dustin that it's over. That he has seen Eddie double tuck his hair, but only because he saw him do it in front of another guy. Steve looks so sad that Dustin uses his allowance to buy them ice cream.
The other half of this is Max and Eddie is getting close together after Vecna. Max always hanging out in their trailer, liking it far better than their empty one.
Max's just always there whenever Steve and Eddie hangs out. Sometimes she's just watching the TV while they hang out in Eddie's room. She just lives there now. When it's time for Steve to go, Eddie says his goodbyes, closing the door after Steve and Max watches as Eddie tucks his hair behind his ear, every time.
She picks up on this after two weeks, and once jokingly said, "If you keep tucking your hair behind your ears every time you hang out with Steve, it's going to fall off." So Eddie actively avoids tucking his hair behind when he's with Steve because Max noticed and if she did then Dustin and maybe even Steve would.
And if Max and Dustin just talked they might actually solve their problems and set the two up together.
In the end, it's Robin who finds out. Of course, she knows of Munson's double tuck, Steve has been rambling for ages about it, she even had to console him after that night in the Hide Out.
It happens when Eddie does his weekly visit of them at Family Video, and Steve already knows this so he brings an extra sandwich for Eddie to eat. When Steve tells Eddie he bought him a sandwich because he knows he's coming, Eddie turns beat red and as soon as Steve leaves to get the sandwich, Eddie unconsciously double tucks his hair and Robin gasps.
Steve's back with the sandwich and Robin's still standing there frozen, hand on her mouth, other pointing at a confused looking Eddie.
"YOU DID THE DOUBLE TUCK!!!"
Poor Steve's just heartbroken thinking, oh my god Eddie's in love with my lesbian bestfriend and Eddie's just getting ready to finally get a real murder charge because he's going to kill Gareth.
I don't know how to end this yet but it certainly has a happy ending.
