I often think that talking to certain people will make me feel a certain way, I measure myself by how talking to you makes me feel grounded. Sometimes the space between that ground and me is insurmountable, I'm lost and I can tell, I've strayed somewhere that I don't want to be.

Today we talked and I wanted to know how far I was from where I often think I want to be, but I could have looked around to realize that my feet were already solidly planted.

Happy almost-birthday to my favorite concert buddy, nature picture-taking inspiration, many other things inspiration, and best adopted member of my family. Living in different places really doesn't feel like it's getting easier, but I love that our friendship is still as good as ever. Here's to many more New Years' and good times.
