Ibuki Momoi

NOBODY KNOWS ABOUT DAI-GUARD. I love this anime so much, it's my childhood, but nobody knows about it!! Anyway Ibuki is one of the MCs. Not sure how to describe her... She's stubborn and has a strong moral sense, probably the brains of the team lol but also a bit of the heart, and she has a traumatic history that isn't really resolved until late in the show. Fun fact I named one of my first self-insert OCs after her (though I was young and didn't know how to spell it so I spelled it Abuki)

If Munkustrap isn't obscure enough surely my darling Etcetera is? She is one of the background/chorus cats so you'd have to be a dedicated fan to actually know about her specifically.

Heterodyne are bizarre, to say the least. They are a Thaumagenic, Extradimensional Fungi created when powerful underground tremors cause ripples between dimensions. From the original "Fractal Knot", the creatures grow and replicate, incorporating whatever matter they come across until they reach an optimum size. Once there, they seek out an energy source. Usually, Electro-magnetic waves through heat-eaters are known.

Beyond that, they are extremely variable. The Starfish-shaped creature is one of the more normal ones. Others have taken shapes like Ice-Cream Cones, Flying Saucers, Spinning Balls, a gun, a mushroom, or even just a mound. They are very odd and very hard to kill if you don't know what you're doing. First identified shortly after the decommissioning of the super robots, Fuel Air Explosives were used to kill the first one. Later, in 1998, when they returned en-mass, a weakness was discovered. By destroying the original Fractal Knot, the creature (if it could even be called THAT) would just fall apart. After a year of battling the Heterodyne, a proper protocol was determined. The attack of a Heterodyne is treated like any other natural disaster and no one bats an eye. Not all heterodynes have the same abilities. Some lack appendages, most lack the Heat-Ray, few lack tentacles. Some fly, others burrow.

They are highly variable, but they can grow and change in size as they feed, even the Fractal Knot can grow until it reaches a plate hexagonal roughly 12ft across with 50 Life Points.

Damage to the Fractal Knot does not heal with regeneration.

Most average between 10 and 25 meters, but some can be as large as a city. In space, they can get even larger. There's another possible way to use these monsters on a general level, giving them all sorts of blades and shields made of energy, and other, stranger things. They'd be known as Apostles or Angels.
