Anyways, the Hugtto girls’ comeback against George at the end was great but this episode really went to the former villains and then some.

I’ve been trying to recall a season where the bad guys actually came back to fight alongside the Cures in the final battle but I don’t think there were a lot of them?

Lessee, there were the Kiryuu sisters in Splash Star (which I still haven’t watched but I know that much at least), Westar and Soular in Fresh (iirc?)…and ooh, can’t forget Dark Dream, Regina…help me out here, I’m having trouble remembering.

But for the majority of them, their heel-face turn seemed to have occurred in the midst of the finale. Hugtto’s villains, however, have long converted to the good side and were already recurring characters before they showed up to assist the Cures one last time.

In other words, they’ve had time to show how they earned their redemption and establish themselves as good before this moment.

Adding to that, unlike previous seasons, all are 100% human, too. Or rather more accurately (gotta include the hamsters), they all have a heart that qualifies them as “human”.

Sure, they can use powers and stuff so they can’t technically be called normal.

But it’s obvious they didn’t start out as monsters. Just really misguided people who had to be brought back onto the right track, that’s all.

And I think that sort of portrayal makes a huge difference in a show like this. Because if they were depicted as monsters from the start (like say, Despear or Deusmast), chances are most of them would’ve stayed evil and been defeated as evil.

But as humans, there is room for error and mistakes, and therefore, room for forgiveness as well.

It tells us that even if we couldn’t be the best we should’ve been, that doesn’t mean we never could be. That doesn’t mean we can’t learn to be better, to change.

And it’s because we’re human that we can understand what it’s like to fail. And how reassuring and encouraging it is when we know that’s not the end of the world just because we fail.

Second chances are second chances for a reason.

All you need is the courage to take it.

And if you can’t do it by yourself yet, it’s okay to rely on someone. 

It’s okay to cry, purge your frustration, self-loathing and all the negative things bottled up inside you, and let them help you stand back up.

People are fundamentally weak. But it’s because of that, they can be even more resilient after the worst has passed.

I’m just loving all these positive, hopeful vibes this episode has been giving off so I just really wanted to put it into words.

guys highkey tho i’d die for the reformed villain trio. there’s saying ‘ok well they’re sorry and they’re good now’ and then there’s the slow pacing of these three overcoming their personal struggles and becoming friends and slowly recovering in the background of the action and then coming back at the end of it all to spit in the face of the oppressive and nihilistic shittiness that pushed them down the rabbit hole to begin with.
