Wild peonies in a field of herbs, and a field of peonies across the road. This was a walk along the road past Yuushien while waiting for the bus to keep going onto wherever the bus was going, cos I still had a fair bit of day left.

Day 7 dawns sunny and perfect for visiting Yuushien Garden on Daikonshima. It’s an interesting half hour or so bus ride from Matsue Station. The volcanic island is in another lake to the east of Matsue and is connected by causeways and bridges to the land around it. Ginseng and peonies grow in deep rich soil. An amazing place to visit, especially if you love peonies...
