Author’s Note: This fic is kind of a sequel to these headcanons but makes sense on its own. It’s also just an excuse for me to have a little fun with these characters, so please don’t take it too seriously😅

Summary by the Author:

Matthew finds out Morpheus plans to propose to you… on your first date. Given what happened to the last poor soul who said no when Dream popped the big question, Matthew and the others are understandably concerned for you. Because there’s no way you’d wanna marry a guy you haven’t even started dating yet, right?

Right??

What you can expect:

It’s a very entertaining story, honestly. Especially because all the characters are very in-character. You can clearly imagine all of them, especially Matthew. 

Expect some soft!Morpheus, too, but it’s not OOC. He’s just a dumbass when it comes to human customs. Also, you’re going to be seeing some really good writing, especially the description and the dialogue. It’s fluffy, but you’ll also laugh your ass off because of Matthew.

It gets sort of spicy at the end but it’s not so bad, just some kissing and suggestive dialogue. You can easily skip or skim through it, though.

I LOVE THIS FIC OMG— anyway

The entire freak-out that Matthew has is just so entertaining, it starts the story off really well. And since he was formerly human, he seemed to be really watching out for Y/N but also Morpheus at the same time. 

I love the way the author wrote Morpheus, especially when he was obviously hurt by Y/N’s words, which would momentarily make you think that there’s going to be an angsty moment: 

Author did a really good job at maintaining Morpheus’ personality even when he was being emotional. 

The suspension of disbelief did not waver at all. Because of how in-character everyone is, you’re really immersed into the story. 

Matthew’s reactions to all the unexpected twists and turns this story takes is hilarious af, and the post-credit scene was even funnier with Lucienne and Merv. 

There’s a little bit of everything in this fic. Tiny bit of angst, lots of fluff, some spice, and a lot of humorous scenes. 

It’s a great read. I like to go back to re-read it every now and then, and maybe y’all would too!

It's a treat to see Jamil's thoughts about the whole "going on a date" with Azul, how he didn't want to at first but then he eventually agreed and I like that we see him think that Azul looks good in his date outfit.

The place they go to is inspired by Rapunzel's kingdom in Tangled, and from there we see how Azul and Jamil interact with the new environment and culture, including a hotel, restaurant, and events specific to the place. Even though Jamil still expresses annoyance for Azul, they're quite comfortable with each other, particularly when working together to plan for the trip. Big Pining Energy from Jamil, the tags don't lie.

I personally always like seeing AzuJami fics from Jamil's perspective especially because it's kind of rare to see (at least in my experience), and I really like the way it's written here. Especially the pining. So if you like seeing Pining Jamil too, I highly recommend this fic. I mean just look at this:

They spend a lot of time together; they're with each other for the majority of the fic. We also get to see how much effort Azul is willing to make just to spend time with Jamil. And Jamil doesn't seem to mind.

I'd never really thought of a Cater/Idia ship, but the premise of this one was interesting especially with the characters involved, and I wanted to see what would happen so I read it, and it's really cute!

Purpose may or may not exist, depending on our personal ideologies. The Endless know better though, they saw the entity prowling the lands before the beginning of history, and it was older than them. Not by much, a few eons maybe, arriving after the birth of the universe we know. For this being was strong and withered the coldness of the void until everything was created. First of Writers, the name it was given, for the inherent purpose of every breathing thing had to be formed in words. Whether we believe in it or not.

His body I recognise, I’ve seen him naked before, but now the stretch of his skin is strange, sickly, I can see his bones protruding from underneath as if trying to break through his pale flesh. I remember his complexion being fair, though not to this extent. Partly obscured by his jet-black hair, his eyes are two windows to fiery rage, so much so, that I sense he is not sure who I am yet, his swirling emotions rendering him blind. Pink lips barely moving, he slightly pulls them into a scowl, threatening me without the use of words. I know him, but at the same time not, not in this state. What have they done to him?

“Morpheus?”

What you can expect:

Very interesting plot. I’ve read a lot of Sandman fics since the TV show came out, and I can confidently say that this is one of the more unique and ambitious fics I’ve read. The tags say Tenderness, and there’s definitely quite a bit of that. It’s interesting, too, since it points to a much deeper story that I look forward to as the story gets updated.

Morpheus and Reader have known each other for a while, so you can expect there’s an air of mystery regarding their relationship—platonic or not. They’re kind of in that weird limbo phase and it annoys the heck out of me as slow-burn fics usually do HAHAHAH AUTHOR PLEASE CUT TO THE CHASE— *cough* anyway, back to Writer Mode™.

The perspective switches around between Azul and Jamil, so we get to see what they're really thinking and feeling in certain scenes.

There's a sense of underlying angst for most of the story, but like the tags say, there's comfort and a happy ending. They both decide to be honest and communicate properly with each other and it's just beautiful~

In my experience, it's rare to see Jamil be vulnerable and expressive about his feelings even in fics, so I really liked how he was shown to be just that by the end of this one. I think it's still in-character, and I'm glad that he and Azul had learned to trust each other like that. I wasn't expecting the last scene to be that sweet, so I was pleasantly surprised~

OKAY. For real, this is one of my favorite AzuJami fics.

First, Azul's explanation about why he's having such a difficult time with flying makes perfect sense considering his hometown. It's the best explanation I've seen about it, and I wanna incorporate it in my own fics eventually.

And even though the entire fic is from Azul's oblivious perspective, it's well-written so we as readers can still see the moments where Jamil gets affected and flustered by him. And just Azul's perspective in general, I love how it's written. We get a lot of insight about how he sees himself, how he thinks other people see him, and how he sees Jamil.

I still haven't left a comment on this one because I just have a lot of Feelings about it and I still can't properly articulate them 🥲

Once again these are my personal opinions on the fic so I don't know if you'll like it as much as I did, but I hope you enjoy it anyway if you decide to read it~
