I don't know if you've already calculated this, but according to RB Dan suffered a gearbox problem during the race which made it impossible for them to show the speed they had on Friday + saturday

I did consider that, but I can’t tell in the times when the problem starting showing up so I can’t put that in the average. At the same time though, while RB and Merc were on Ultras, RBR was still slightly faster than Lewis.

Which, if you consider the supposed gearbox problem, it would point more and more towards the fact that Daniel could have won the GP.

dailyformulaone It might also be noteworthy that Valtteri said there are no news regarding his contract with Mercedes either. It seems like Mercedes is holding out on him  for now and looking at Ferrari. I wonder how long they're going to wait for Seb's decision before simply signing Bottas for 1 year.

It just appeared to me that the gossip about Seb wanting only one year extension might actually come from Mercedes (Niki’s fiends started the gossip about the pre-contract, but Niki said that it was bullshit).If so... Mercedes doesn’t want to sign Valtteri yet because they need to keep pretending as if the one year deal was a fact. But why would they play such a silly game? To disrupt the peaceful atmosphere inside Ferrari? Could be. Do they have time to play such games? They have money and people to do it for them.

On the other hand, it that were true, Seb wouldn’t delay signing the contract just to fuck with Mercedes. And he is delaying.
