Petra Dahl, life cleric of the Dawnfather, light of my #TaldoreiDay!
Had an absolutely tremendous @TaldoreiDay going on a magical artifact quest for Allura! And as a hunky half-orc lady no less! I absolutely HAD to draw my buff, gruff #DnD sweetheart. Petra is so lonely and precious and honest and terse and tenderhearted and protective of her party. <3 <3 She's my hero
Favorite moments playing Petra:
Discovering how much Pelor means to her while she prayed for guidance: cast augury to get a read on our plan of action, and our DM gave Petra this really sweet moment of feeling her God ‘s presence and the warmth of his power through her armor and I had this lovely epiphany about how lonely Petra is and how safe and empowered The Dawnfather makes her feel. Then the augury outcome said that our course of action (dispelling a door and picking the lock and sticking a head inside) would be a good result ...only for our rogue to find the door was unlocked. Petra/I just blurted out "I'm so glad I beseeched the warmth of my god's love for an unlocked door..."
Spared an NPC when found out she had a daughter. Petra had a plate mail glove latched to her shoulder to keep her from running off but when they decided to let her go, Petra healed her up and told her to get back to her daughter. The NPC thanked Petra, gave her 5 gold and a moonstone, and swore to tell the daughter that Petra had been the reason she could come home to her. Petra...was not emotionally equipped to know what to do with that. Our DM said the moonstone was worth 65 gold but there is no way Petra’s selling that.
We had a wizard elf girl fresh out of the Alabaster Lyceum in our party (brand new d&d player too! Her first ever game) and Petra immediately started sticking by her. I wanted to make sure she had a good time with her first game ever, and Petra saw she was the squishiest. One of my first in game combat actions was to bring her back from unconsciousness. :D Cast cure wounds at 4 lvl, but being a life cleric (which btw fucking BAMF class) I ended up giving her back 42 out of her 55 total HP with one spell, and got some HP back for myself in the process! My first time playing a pure healer and had a ton of fun.
Confronting the defeated big bad, all up in his face "I don't abide disease mongers"
It’s so bizarre getting so attached to a character so quick. I had such an interesting acting experience as Petra. I barely said anything the first half hour but as soon as we were in combat it was like BOOM, of course, this is where Petra knows how to behave. This is her sweet spot. And all of a sudden, her personality started shining. It felt less like I had gotten more comfortable and more like she had.
I'm just really fucking jazzed about her!
