It was only a matter of time before I made this post. I was holding back on it because I wanted to at least have sent my latest roll to the lab before I dropped this, but it’s finally time to have a on the blog.
The car you see before you is a DA Integra, for the uninitiated, DA is the term enthusiasts use to refer to the second generation Acura (or Honda if you’re overseas) Integra. The DA Integra was produced between the 1989-1993, and was offered with the standard slew of Honda engines at the time, from the torquey B18A1, down to the carbureted 1.6L ZC. As far as enthusiasts are concerned, there’s very little that separates this car from the Civic of the same era (EF), or the DA’s successor, the DC2 Integra, both of which are significantly more popular among tuners.
There are several reasons that the DA doesn’t receive the same amount of love as its younger sibling, one of the biggest being that while the DC2 generation was graced with a Type R variant resulting in a halo effect that made even the lesser models more desirable. I think it’s a shame these cars don’t get the same amount of as their younger siblings, their classic boxy 80s styling manages to make the uncluttered design of the DC2 seem busy, and the fact that it’s a golden era Honda means that it has no less aftermarket tuning potential than any of its siblings. This one in particular is packing a B18C1 swap from a later model Integra GSR with the standard suite of bolt-ons, in addition to some uprated bushings, coilovers, chassis stiffening, and a 98 spec Integra Type R hub conversion, as well as 16 inch wheels from the from the same car.
While this isn’t a build that’s going break the internet or rack up likes on social media, it’s certainly something that works. The owner has made a car that’s just as comfortable fitting groceries in the spacious hatch, as it is tearing up the local canyons or race track.
