Let's learn more about sumo!
Shimpan or Shinpan : The ring-side judges of a professional sumo bout. There are five in total who sit around the dohyo, and they help oversee the matches.
Mono-ii : A conference among the shipman to reconsider a gyoji's (referee's) decision. If one or more of the shimpan see something like a foot stepping out of the ring or a hair pull that the gyoji did not catch, they can call a mono-ii and gather at the centre of the dohyo. Nowadays they are able to use instant replays to make sure their decision on the winner is correct.
Torinaoshi : A rematch; ordered by the judges (shimpan) if unable to determine a winner. Sometimes a match is too close to call, as we see here with Takanosho and Daishoho, where the two rikishi may touch down or step out of the ring at the same time. Therefore a torinaoshi, or rematch, is called and they fight again.
