...but I absolutely think Yen Sid sees Mickey as his kid. This, other than what a genuinely good Toon Mickey is, is one of the only reasons he trusts Mickey enough to train him to be his apprentice. If anything happened to Mickey, I truly think the sorcerer would be inconsolable.

TLDR: Yen Sid is also fighting Disney for rights to Mickey.

So uhhhhh my stance on Obsession AUs (this one is MOSTLY directed at Sonic AUs of the movie, read before you yell at me PLEASE 😭😭)

Disclaimer now, I absolutely LOVED Obsession. It may be one of my favorite movies ever. And please note that I do not at ALL hate Obsession AUs AS LONG AS you do not sexualize Bear or Nikki, your AUs are faithful to the suffering Nikki endured, and you don't glorify what Nikki went through or what Bear did/caused her to do.

If you can respectfully create an AU that follows those rules I genuinely don't think I'd mind your AU at all, but just creating an Obsession AU because the movie is trendy rather than for the love of the movie and respect for the message behind it is kinda gross to me.

The Sonic Obsession AUs surfacing online have been making me feel very conflicted, lol

Like I see a lot of them where Sonic is Bear and Amy is Nikki. I think this dynamic shows just how LITTLE some people know the Sonic characters for what they are genuinely supposed to be.

In some iterations of canon Sonic, Sonic doesn't quite reciprocate Amy's emotions, but in some he does. Regardless, they are STILL FRIENDS. Sonic would NEVER take Amy's autonomy away from her. Sonic is all ABOUT freedom and the ability to make choices for yourself, as long as they're good ones. He would NEVER force himself upon her, nor would he make or want her to force herself upon him, so…

Then I see some where Amy is Bear, and Sonic is Nikki. While I GUESS (heavy reluctancy on "guess") this could be slightly more accurate to the characters, Amy wants Sonic to be happy above all else. Her desire to see him thrive and be the independent guy she's grown to know and love ultimately means more to her than being with him, even if she loves him and wants to be with him very badly. She loves him, but she would never cage him. She wouldn't ever force him to do or feel something he doesn't want to do or feel.

I think the ONLY Sonic Obsession AU I've ever seen that I actually like so far, is the one by VKFindlay, who is making a comic combining the two but is staying faithful to the characters. Sonic is Nikki and Amy is Bear, but unlike Bear who actively makes Nikki's state and suffering worse, Amy truly, genuinely acknowledges something is wrong and expresses that she wants to fix what she did wrong, because she loves him.

Though I'm not going to lie, I want this one to end badly. I dunno how in-character they'd be able to keep the ending of Obsession for this AU…but I think having it end horribly would remain faithful to the ending of the OG movie, considering Bear literally ruined Nikki's entire life.

I found VKFindlay's really cool comics through a YouTuber's dub of it. The YouTuber was Garden Dubs and it was genuinely fire as hell 😭 I do wanna draw art of VKFindlay's comics cuz it's the only Sonic Obsession AU I've actually seen that I like so far, lol

Another post kinda like the one I made bashing on cringe culture and people doing fandom-type stuff for characters.

LETS TALK ABOUT FRANCHISE-BASED OCs, SONAS, OC x CANONS, KINSONAS, AND STUFF LIKE THAT GNG

Once again, who the actual fuck CARES what you do? Does it bring you comfort? Do you feel comfortable in your own skin? Does it make you happy and not bring harm to others?

Then say it with me, THAT IS ALL THAT SHOULD MATTER.

I have seen so, so many fun, creative OCs (and self-inserts!), both that "live" within a certain universe or franchise. There is literally NOTHING wrong with making an OC of your own (and for anyone who thinks there is, I'd hate for you to learn how literally ANY character in any given piece of media is made 🥀). And creating an OC that lives in a specific universe (be it something as well-known as The Amazing Digital Circus or Sonic the Hedgehog, or something as obscure as as your favorite creepypasta universe or a show you're probably the only person that knows about) can actually help you create your OWN characters, for your OWN story, which, again, is completely harmless as long as it does not promote/romanticize harm towards others!

Sonas. Who cares if someone has a sona? People can have several reasons for having sonas! Some people may just want to display their character-designing capabilities through a fictional representation of themselves! Some people people may just not want to draw exactly how they look irl (that's my case, certainly!). Some people just want to draw what they'd like to look like! They are representing themselves with this character, it literally does not affect you in any way — other than you looking at it, which you are still not under absolutely any obligation to do — so why get pressed about it?

OC x Canon pairings are completely fine. There is literally nothing wrong with them, period. Sometimes, someone finds a very deep comfort or attachment to a character. Or they simply find people like said character attractive! Whatever the case may be, once again, it doesn't affect you at all! Self-shippers, yumeshippers, OC x Canon artists, please don't feel shame for what you do, as long as you remember — other people may like that same character, and some may not like that character at all. As long as everyone is respectful, it should not matter who you ship yourself or your OCs with. ((This can go for Canon x Canon as well! At the end of the day, the ship probably won't be canon anyway, so nothing is being "ruined". Let people enjoy what they want and have fun, as long as the characters they're shipping are LEGALLY ALLOWED TO BE TOGETHER, and are hopefully healthy for each other!))

Any variant/version/kind of kinsona is completely fine. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with fictionkins, otherkins, recreations of an already existing character that fit you a little better, etc. I do not care if you feel connected to an entity out of this world, if you identify with a cartoon bear, if you believe you're Ron Weasely. Are you nice to me? Are you respectful of other people's opinions? Are you happy in your own skin? Then you're worthy of being heard and respected to me. That's how it should be with everyone.

Stop to think about it for a minute. You would NOT like it if someone looked at something you took joy in, something that made you feel better when you're sad, something you're genuinely attached to and proud of, and called you stupid, cringe, immature, ridiculous, or any other hurtful thing under the sun, especially if it were harmless. So I don't care what gender you are, your faith, your age, ANYTHING — you have no right to do so towards someone else.

I am very sorry if I sound unkind, cruel, or rude in this. That's not my intention. But I am so, so sick of people belittling other people for the things they enjoy, ESPECIALLY if people don't deserve it. Wow! I have an emotional connection to a cartoon cat! That doesn't mean I don't shower. That doesn't mean I don't go outside. That doesn't make me dumb, stupid, out of touch with reality, or immature.

It makes me human.

It makes me me.

Don't treat me like I'm the villain just because I know what makes me happy.

I've had an idea for au that living toons were created based off of old cartoons, that wizards and witches could get their hands-on.

Companies like disney and walner brothers can't make their cartoons come to life.

Mickey Mouse, suffering from a identity crisis for being Disney's mascot, but not at the same time.

That's beyond a cool idea!!

The concept of the cartoons we know and love not having their own unique identities, at least not like we think they do, is such a neat idea.
