We featured Sun Ra’s cover of Pink Elephants on Parade a few weeks back and today here’s another interpretation that takes the song in a completely different direction.
It’s already one of the most strange and surreal animated musical sequences in the Disney canon, but Swedish dubstep producer DALADUBZ adds another layer to the nightmare with his trippy remix Pink Elephants VIP. The track repeatedly uses an Inception-like BWOMP to great effect and combined with the ominous chants of “LOOK OUT! LOOK OUT!”, it’s easy to imagine gargantuan pink elephants tromping around in formation. When I first heard this a few years ago, it was really my first exposure to dubstep as a genre. It figures that it’d be through a Disney-inspired remix! I haven’t exactly listened to much (or any) dubstep since, but if I’m in the right mood, I’ll still give this track the occasional spin. LOOK OUT!
