EXTERMINATE!
In honor of all my new followers thanks to my other DW nails: more DW nails!
Doctor Who nails!
Dalek nails: 2 coats Essence A Piece of Forever, 1 coat Essie Matte About You. "Eyes" were various blue polishes (done with my largest dotting tool, which isn't very large) covered with a generous drop of Sephora by OPI Step Off, Sister!, which was surpisingly effective: They're like pretty little gems! Stripes were one coat of Revlon Expressionist Vincent Van Gold (which comes with a remarkably usable striper brush) and one coat Quo by Orly Little Black Dress (which I found a little watery for nail art. On my other hand I used Bizou Caviar. The end result looks the same, but the Bizou is definitely creamier) put on with a detailer brush because I don't have a striper brush... and it shows. Next time I think I will leave off the black... the gold is much more forgiving. "Eggs" were also Revlon Expressionist Vincent Van Gold. I used the brush because I wanted a bumpy effect, but I think next time I will use a dotting tool to get rounder dots.
TARDIS nails: Three coats L'Oréal Jet Set to Paris, one coat Essie Matte About You. Windows and light: Sally Hansen White On done with a wide nail art brush. As you can see it was not completely opaque, but I liked the effect (kind of "windowy") so I left it like that.
I used a medium detail brush and 100% acetone to shape the base colours to TARDIS and Dalek shapes before putting on the details.
Base coat: Sally Hansen Salon Manicure. No top coat. One day later no chips or wear to speak of. (Yay!)
Glow-in-the-dark blue nail polish?
I've decided that to do a proper Dalek mani, I need a glow-in-the-dark blue polish (for the eye). Can anybody recommend a good one?
So I'm looking at pictures of Daleks to figure out what nail polish to use for my Dalek mani, and it appears that Daleks come in pretty much every colour combination imaginable. But what colour is the light in the eye stalk? Blue? Yellow? White?
