⌿Are we lost?⍀

Daehyung looked at his brother Yejun and sighed deeply “Yejun-ah! Do you want me to carry you? You’re too slow”. To be honest Daehyung did not see his brother to be nearly as good as himself (but to be completely honest Daehyung didn't see anyone to be as great as himself) and he hadn't for as long as he could remember. Daehyung loved his brother very much, and therefore always tried not to yell and get angry at Yejun, not that it ever had been very successful, but Daehyung still got angry at Yejun less than others.

Right now, Daehyung was being a great brother and had chosen to accompany Yejun on his way to the royal wedding, despite the fact that he didn’t want to go, it wasn’t his wedding nor any from his family so why should he care? But being with Yejun was fun for Daehyung, he would always get entertained at Yejun showing his endless love for him, but the most exciting was when Yejun got angry at others, it was Daehyung’s biggest entertainment, he found Yejun cute when he was angry despite Yejun not being very cute.

But just as many other days, today had not went as planned, Daehyung and Yejun had walked for ages and Daehyung wasn’t really sure where they were, but he didn’t care, he found it to be Yejun’s problem to get them to the wedding. “Where are we? We’ve been walking for ages” Daehyung said with his usual hard tone as he looked at Yejun, whenever Daehyung looked at Yejun he was surprised, he did not understand how they were family when Daehyung was so pretty and Yejun looked like a donkey compared to Daehyung (this was of course Daehyung’s meaning).

“ how is your family?”

𝒂 𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒍𝒆 𝒔𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒆  graces her features at the sight of the young lord, recognition filling her gaze and warming her heart.  it’s been a little while since she’s seen him, but dahye will be forever grateful to yejun after what he did for her with the brutes that wouldn’t take an apology for an answer.  it’s perhaps the first time he’s seen her with her hair tied back though, worn up in the way of a married woman and perhaps that’s the reason for his question.

her eyes are still warm after she dips her head, hands folded neatly at her belly before she lifts her gaze back to him.  she’s not too sure how to answer the question, though - her honest truth would likely have her punished, but it’s the way of the court to gently lie or sidestep a question.  she chooses the latter.  “ we’re settling into the marriage.” dahye finally says, which is still the truth regardless.  

she simply doesn’t tell him about the loneliness she feels, or the uncertainty in her heart.  “ and yourself ..? how are you faring?”

“i would look a little happier if i were you.”

a prompt reply for the first royal wedding,with @dalyejun.

in the statistics that fluctuate in a volatile fashion, the likeliness of someone speaking to him in each given seconds of such occasions is indubitably unquestionable. one would surmise that after all these moments cocooned in the similar crowd, he’s blossomed to become one of them. and he’s contributed in rendering it believable at the very least, with his amicable façades. an ever-stagnant smiles that place an emphasis on the culture of the affluent. he does his tasks well, for now, and that’s all that matters. again, flashes a polite quirk on the corners of his lips, donning it well.

he believes so, at least, until someone points out that he should’ve looked happier. his mask is far from impenetrable. and this, fatigue hanging in swings around his sinews. he’s by no means close to perfection, even when he can hold a decent act. at the comment, he pretends that he’s not been caught redhanded. ❛ i believe i am just fatigued is all, ❜ he says. ❛ i am truly delighted for the ceremony. ❜

no more, no less

Raising an eyebrow at the younger girl, Yejun let out a bark of humorless laughter. Sometimes he was surprised that someone as observant as Ruihan was related to that idiot Jieyu.

“Truth be told, I don’t even want to be here.” he finally admits with a sigh, running a hand through his long hair.

“But people talk about me enough as it is, and my sister wanted me to come here, so…”

He shoots Ruihan another wry smile.

“So here I am. …Is my smile really that forced looking, though?”

she stills beneath his gaze, breath held when the laughter, if one could call it that, meets her ears and she notes the way something is amiss in it. the warmth laughter usually holds is lacking, and ruihan finds herself absolutely useless with the information she takes from his movements ; undeniably becoming one with it as the sigh burns her ears and suddenly regret reigns at the tip of her tongue. 

perhaps she shouldn’t have said anything, “slightly, my lord, but if the festivities of tonight don’t please you, i fear it can’t be helped.” there’s a certain mood the night has set in and ruihan fears the way it inks her heart ; turning it dark with the more she interacts with those who don’t share the same light as she -- slowly succumbing to the shadows, finding her thoughts an exception to the common rule, especially for tonight.

𝒊𝒏 𝒎𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒆,  dahye learns that the world isn’t as bright as it seems from inside the walls of her cage.

on her way back to the estate from the court lady’s courses, she simply tries to keep her head down.  it’s easier, most days, when the streets are busy and buzzing with the sounds of the market - everyone trying to get a customer’s attention to buy their wares, things like that.  dahye usually keeps her covering over her head, but this time, something caught her eye - perhaps just a flash of light from a pretty piece of glass at a seller’s stall, but it causes mayhem.

it takes but a moment for her cover to slip down to her shoulders as she bumps into someone, eyes blinking in alarm.  they don’t take to it well, heckling her and all she wants is to just go home.  (  the pretty glass is by now, forgotten.  )

“ i’m sorry, sir .. i was just hoping to pass through when something caught my eye - i didn’t mean to bump your shoulder ..” she mumbles, trying to make peace in the situation - trying, at least, to appear brave when her lip is trembling.

dahye wishes her cousin were here.  maybe he’d know better how to quell his anger with words, but he’s not and she’s just all alone.
