One of the many things the movie misses from the books is Darren it’s necessarily a goody-goody... I mean he’s 12 and doesn’t get into THAT much crap in the book at the beginning aside from attended an illegal freak show — but the movie chocking him up to a straight-laced bore was dumb in my opinion
