I am very excited to share that my physical edition of As Color Fades Away has arrived! Ahh!!! It’s a big boy, 7”x10” executive book and measuring just shy of 800 pages (The max I was allowed so I had to get a little creative with margins!)⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ The beautiful cover is art created by the amazingly talented @onesmolhurt! ⁣⁣ This is actually the second version of this novel, as the first one that arrived had a giant scratch on the cover (And I accidentally mis-capitalized something on the spine 😝) and it also was a tad darker than I thought it would, and since it is my baby I wanted it to be perfect for my bookshelf so ordered again 😜 ⁣ ⁣ That said, I will be offering the literal first edition copy for sale via an auction on my Discord going to benefit a charity (either Warrior Canine Connection once more or the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless). Pictures of that one will be uploaded there and the auction will start next Monday, July 8. ⁣ ⁣ I will preface, I do not know if Color will ever be made available to the public otherwise, so this may be the one chance for any fans (shipping rates are insane for the weight of this book, almost 4 pounds, to other countries and the price I would have to charge to cover that is more than the value of the book and I cannot in good faith do that although, cough, any international fans interested in bidding please check the shipping rates first on the pinned post before making a bid).

It was movie night at your apartment and you couldn’t be more elated at the thought of spending time with Connor, alone. Ever since the rugby match, the two of you have been busy studying for midterms and you just wanted a quiet night with him. Thankfully, your roommates offered to back out last minute so that you two could have the time alone. You made a mental note to get them something good for vacating the premises for you. 

Dressed in some comfy shorts and an oversized shirt you may have stolen from Connor, you get some popcorn going and scroll through Netflix. In his text, he said he did not mind any movie you picked, so action it is. Just something to have in case you two decide to do other things in the middle. 

Knock, knock. 

You nearly jump at sharp raps on the door. Containing your joy, you head over and pull the door open. “Hey! You ready for some action?”

Connor smiles at you, dressed in sweats, a gray tank top and a sweater, he looks more relaxed than you have seen him. “Of course. I brought chips and soda.”

“Oooh, thank you,” you accept the bags from him and turn to plop them on the kitchen counter. 

The aroma of popcorn fills the air as you gather the food into bowls and plop ice cubes into glasses for the two of you. Connor helps out by grabbing blankets from the couches and creates a sort of nest. You lay out the snacks as he hits play to start the movie. You turn off most of the lights except for a lamp behind the couch to give the room a dim, golden glow.

“How was your exam today?” he sits down next to you. He’s a little awkward as he wants to be close but as you two haven’t discussed anything yet, he doesn’t want to pressure you. 

Leaning on his arm, you pop a chip in your mouth and smile at the crunch it makes. “I’m hoping it went well, I knew the first question so that’s a good sign.”

“I’m sure you did great,” he laughs at your drawn conclusion.It falls silent as you two watch the movie in silence. His warmth is comforting against you and you can’t help but lean your head on his shoulder. He adjusts to move his arm around you, causing you to slip into the nook of his arm. A deep blush warms your face, one that you hope he can’t see in the dimness of the room.As the movie continues, you barely notice his hand come up to gently rub your head. His fingers massaging circles on the side of your head, a comforting act that makes your insides tingle. True, the two of you have been close and while you wish for things to go on, you worry about pushing Connor too far too fast. But this is nice and you don’t want it to end. Releasing the blanket, you move your hand to rest on his chest. 

He clears his throat and you turn your head to ask if you did something wrong when he places his lips on yours. The action is gentle and coaxing, he tastes of buttery popcorn as his lips fit against yours. His hand comes up to hold your head as he tilts it to one side, exposing your neck. 

Your hand clenches his sweater as he places his supple lips to the sensitive skin there. Heat flourishes in your body as he runs his lips up and down your neck, nipping lightly before placing a long kiss and pulling away. 

“I’m guessing movie night is done, huh?” you grin at him. 

He smiles at your flushed face, his heart pounding his ribs as he is glad you have accepted his bold move. “Only if you want it to be.”
