A Simple Question

As I was walking up to my friends the captain asked us, “How did you find our little farm?” We all answered that it was very simple, yet also very complex to do. It takes a lot of effort to understand the nature in the area but most of all, to maintain such beautiful plants. I admired how they can immediately identify a plant and how to help the plant to grow. I also  applaud

He asked us again, “Do you think we are happy with our land?” This question had got me thinking. Although progress is very crucial for many people, they do not see progress in industrializing certain things. They see progress in their everyday improvement in their farms and when they can further sustain their way of living.

I answered. “Yes, I think you are happy with your land. Although it may not have buildings and cemented roads, this land still reflects your cultures and values as a person and this is already progress.

The answer the captain told us was very touching. He sees us as someone who can make a change and impact to this society. He views us as someone who is important to the society. Although we are still students who have only yet to attain our goals, we are still people who can make a change and as future leaders of this country, he believes that we can help them to save their hometown, giving a brighter future for their community.
