So, this will be my second moving to England update (here's the first one http://widowelena.tumblr.com/post/122676129394/holy-damn-whoever-said-immigration-was-easy-was) I am not entirely sure why I write these but it's honestly write this a lot for myself and because well, even if most probably don't care I do feel like home on tumblr and like to write these for those who actually care. Anyway, thank you so much for the messages/replies after the last post I wrote, I did read them all but I haven't had time to reply nor the opportunity. Let's face it, I hate to reply to tumblr messages on my phone since I have no idea if they are receiven or not). So, here we go. After the whole having to move from Blackpool to Liverpool fiasco, I ended up settling in the house of an ex-marine me and my mum met on the last place we were staying. We pay £65 per week bills included plus have free access to WiFi. Yes, that is a pretty important thing for me, don't question. Plus, he's very nice and is literally never home so me and my mum have a home for ourselves. Then, I started exploring the place I'm staying at and of course making parallels between here and Portugal. Being a dog lover, the first thing I noticed was that dogs can actually enter many establishments and walk on actual trains/undergrounds? This is so new to me like seriously. Though you can definitely notice that the chosen breeds by the English are Staffies and Bulldogs. Which is pretty great. That aside one of the things that like bothers me the most is the trash on the streets, some at least. It's like so much. But putting that aside the city is very pretty and there's just so much greens. I have a question though, what is it with english people and frozen food? There are so many halls full of frozen food on supermarkets, I'm used to everything fresh so I was like astonished by that. The prizes in comparison to Portugal's are far less expensive though, which is pretty great. The milk and meat are way better in England but when it comes to cooking salt, olive oil and cheese Portugal's is so much better. The cheese is the thing that ends up bothering me the most, I love it so much but it's legit so different here. It's amazing though, I feel like I'm experiencing things for the first time, because even the smallest thing is different and it's amazing to learn more and more about complete different culture, like for real. I went to get my english insurance number last Thursday and the woman that took care of it asked me if I had gone to america lmao I guess all the movies/tv shows payed off for me to get a slight more american than portugese accent. I hate the portugese one my mum speaks with it it's hilarious, but hey as long as I don't have it I'm cool with it. I haven't really gotten a job, most companies want people above the age of 18 *rolls eyes* but my mum has two already and she actually had to turn down a few which is great. Immigration advise? The first week is the worst, well I am a rather positive person and don't get stressed that whole easily, but it is the worst. After that, if you're lucky everything is pretty cool. Plus, I'm getting to practice my english, I am want to be 100% fluent albeit my english teacher already told me I was. I will see that when school starts. By the way, is there anyone from England that could help me learn stuff on how the educational system works here? Because I honestly have no idea right now. Anyway, thank you so much for those who read this insanely big post, sorry about it by the way, I just don't have any friends to talk to in this country yet, other than my mum who's driving me to insanity. I swear when it comes to moral support and trying to make someone feel secure, I am the mother. And she's more moody than I could ever be. Again, the only thing I need now is to buy a laptop and I'll be back to normal, social network's wise. Love you guys <3
