Yonkers, NY, Native Dan Fiorito Takes Over Reigns of Staten Island Yankees

Staten Island Yankees name Dan Fiorito as their new manager.

The Staten Island Yankees of the New York-Penn League (NYPL) announced today that Yonkers, N.Y., native Dan Fiorito has been named Manager for the 2020 season. 

In a return to the New York area, Fiorito, 29, is thrilled to revisit a ballpark he played in as a high schooler at Fordham Prep in the Bronx.

Richmond Flying Squirrels fall to Trenton, 4-3

The trenton thunder (34-33) prevailed, 4-3, over the Richmond Flying Squirrels (37-27) in a nip-and-tuck affair at ARM & HAMMER Park on Thursday night.  The win allowed the Thunder to stave off a Squirrels’ sweep attempt and also allowed Trenton to claim the now completed season-series between the two clubs (7-6).

The Richmond Flying Squirrels (32-25) claimed their three-game series with the trenton thunder with a, 8-5, victory on Thursday night at The Diamond.  The Squirrels have now won eight of their last nine contests and hit the road at a high-water mark for the year of seven games over .500.

Trenton ends Richmond win streak, 8-3

The trenton thunder (32-27) snapped the Richmond Flying Squirrels (30-25) six-game win-streak with an, 8-3, victory on Tuesday night at The Diamond.  Richmond was attempting to equal the franchise record for consecutive wins (seven – 2010), but continued to struggle against Trenton.  The Thunder are now 6-2 against the Squirrels on the season.
