Blu Christmas Holiday Movie Asplosion 2022! ⛄ Chapter 23: Trading Places 🦌 I would like this film consideredly more if it weren't for the few problematically homophobic/racist moments. I don't mean characters who are racist acting racist, I mean the completely unnecessary Dan Akroyd "disguising" himself as an extremely poorly done rastafarian stereotype, including attempted black makeup. Regardless of whether it wasn't full on exaggerated blackface in style or if Eddie Murphy was okay with it or whatever, it's just a cringy awful and racist choice, for 1983 or any year. Also, the couple uses of the infamous homophobic slur feel extremely uncomfortable, and devoid of humor.
