tips for new dancers
don’t compare yourself
know that you’re never too old to learn
learn at your own pace
frustration is normal; the key is to work harder until you’re no longer frustrated. that way, you will be satisfied.
user mirrored clips if learning from videos and doing covers
preference: what kind of dance do you like? do it. what song? do it.
know yourself: do you learn better by slowing down the video, or breaking it down at it’s normal speed? or perhaps just watching someone else do a tutorial on it?
practise often and have a consistent schedule
work on the things that challenge you
stretch!!! you will be sore!!!
take a break from hw for 2 min to practise a few moves. you’ll feel energised while practising!
if you’re waiting for something, for example: the hot pocket cooking in the micro, or stopping at a red light/cross walk, do a couple moves with your arm or head (ie: work on head isolations, arm hits)
own it; from your facial expression to your freestyle moves, just flaunt everything
be creative. make up your own moves and incorporate it into dances you’ve learned
how to find your dance style: freestyle dance to your favourite song, and you can use some of the rly good moves to choreograph other dances
