I am genuinely curious and I am no intention to offend anyone or degrade the capabilities of JM on dancing.. I just want to know why Jimin is considered as BTS main dancer along with J-Hope? Isn't Jimin himself and even BTS members have said that the main dancer is J-Hope or is there any instances that they have said or even just the director of the choreography of BTS claimed that Jimin and J-Hope are the main dancer and I just don't know that? Or is it just merely an opinion of fans or other dancers, other professionals, etc.? Thank you for reading my ask! 😃💜
Hey, anon, I get it. BigHit's official website no longer lists BTS member roles, hasn't since prior to the Butter era redesign. All you get from BH is names and birthdates - probably, I hope, because BigHit realized that pigeonholing BTS-level talent into boxes of job descriptions was dumb. So I understand why you might not know. Officially, though, here are the official BTS member roles as of 2016 (Tae was later promoted, keep reading, and visuals aren't translated below):
Namjoon: Leader, Main Rapper Seokjin: Visual, Sub Vocalist Yoongi: Lead Rapper Hobi: Main Dancer, Sub Rapper, Sub Vocalist Jimin: Lead Vocal, Main Dancer Taehyung: Visual, Lead Dancer, Sub Vocalist Jungkook: Main Vocal, Lead Dancer, Sub Rapper (also Center and Maknae)
Jimin is officially one of two Main Dancers and has been since the group's debut. The other is Hobi, with Jungkook and Taehyung as Lead Dancers. That’s your BTS Official dance line.
Taehyung actually did not start out as a Lead. He was promoted in 2018 after Love Yourself: Tear. The other dance line positions have remained the same since debut. I also think it's very Serendipity of the Jeon-Parks to have the Main Vocalist and Lead Dancer hanging out with the Main Dancer and Lead Vocalist. Stan you a power couple is all I'm saying.
