Throwback to a peaceful swim in Kali River at Dandeli 🖤 This location is around five to ten kilometers ahead of the Kali River Dam at Dandeli, where you can relax, have a swim and zone out into nature. Dandeli is one of the few places that I have seen very little plastic contamination in. Western Canvases: Dawns at Dandeli forest have just the right amount of tinge, sweetness and pleasantly breezes that make up for a perfect place to have a cup of warm chai, floating on the Kali river. The drive through the Dandeli forest before the oranges of the dawn hit, giving the leaves their golden greens, is what any adventurer would look forward to wake up to, after a night of campfire and odomos 😂 You can hire jeeps to take you through the forest, to the riverbank, where upon prior booking, a boat awaits you to take you to tiny islands where ducks, cranes and other water birds nest and if you're lucky enough, you'll get to see some eggs and hatchlings. And I urge you, should you visit here, to not litter or disturb the birds. Sometimes, hues become a mask for what is actually the substance of the shot, making it essential for them to be sliced off, revealing the monochromatic reality of what the image is about. I had shot this one particular picture directly in a b/w mode to totally remove the temptation to post it in chrome. Because like many, even I succumb to the shades and the blends and the hazes, obscuring the raw skeleton of the frame. Observe how the fog stretches and densifies towards the open side of the river, thinning towards one of the scattered islands on the river Kali, and I have done nothing but add the logo here and the slight vignette is directly from the capture, so as to emphasize the actual haze of that scene, without any distraction of the skies or those waters or greens. Dewey Dawns: This barely two-inch wide shot that I captured on a late winter dawn of 2016, on the banks of river Kali, in the Dandeli forest reserve, is still one of my favorites. I shot this on an old iphone6s that I had borrowed. The river banks, enveloped in forests host thickets of fogs even in mid summers, during the early hours. The droplets on these cobwebs are from such dew that had precipitated overnight, decorating these humble and fragile homes for our lenses, which itself is the subjective abstraction of this image. Dandeli and the river Kali and the forest that surrounds it are still quite the hotspots for bird life and a must in the travelogues of ornithologists and bird photographers. The locals and the government agencies there seem to have been doing a good job of conservative measures with regards to habitat and availability of water resources for the wildlife, including bisons, boars and crocodiles.
