Unusual, I know, but I have another Tumblr poll. As per the general norm on my blog, it's about Danganronpa, and particularly something that's heavily contested in the fanbase:
Regarding Chapter 1, who was in the right and who was in the wrong between Sayaka and Leon?
Sayaka was right
Leon was right
They were both right
They were both wrong
Voting ended onAug 11
(I'll be saving the result for a potential future lore post!)
when characters lose their ahoge, do they lose parts of themselves?
let me explain. I know this sounds, like, insanely irrational, but I realized this when yapping about Danganronpa with a friend and figured I ought to discuss
we have two instances of characters losing an ahoge: hajime whenever he transitions to izuru, and keebo whenever he's smacked by that rock.
while the timing doesn't particularly matter, it is DIRECTLY when their character changes. yes, keebo's change is due to the ahoge loss, as it was his antenna...
but does this imply that hajime's loss of the ahoge is what gave him talent? it seems to be a recurring theme that when characters give up parts of themselves they gain others (ie: despair disease), so it wouldn't be TOO hard to believe...
More Nene Lore! TW for mental health topics and Danganronpa 1 spoilers!
Nene Tame is Class 78’s Ultimate Racer. From a young age, she showed exceptional talent for motor sports and races, and had a knack for effortlessly analyzing TV races as well. Her favorite car is a red unit she affectionately calls the Unicorn, if you call the name cringe she’ll strangle you, and her number is 07. She has an extremely rebellious streak and often skips class, often times never showing up at all. If she does choose to make an appearance, it’s like 45 minutes late. (She lives on campus and literally drives a race car. She’s late on purpose.)
Every time Nene gets a report card or a test back, she rips it apart before she can read it. She isn’t very book savvy and hates studying. Nene is a firm believer that numbers on a page do not measure your intelligence. She was also raised in a home where her performance was put above her needs, and school is a sore spot for her overall. Secretly, her blood boils when she hears others bragging about how good their grades are.
She is half-siblings with Nekomaru Nidai. Nene’s mother divorced her father when she was 11, and Ken Tame re-married to Yuki Nidai when Nene was 13. Nene and Nekomaru have a close bond and consider each other best friends. As the Ultimate Team Manager, Nekomaru assisted Nene in winning her very first big-league race! Ken helps Yuki see the more serious side of life, and Yuki helps Ken to lighten up (especially when it comes to his daughter).
Nene is diagnosed with ADHD, severe anxiety, and borderline personality disorder. Under all her bravado and overall prickly personality, she’s extremely insecure. Due to her anxiety, Nene is graying prematurely. She is on anxiety medication, and her pills stop her from crying. If she’s crying, she hasn’t taken her meds…
Also, a total tsundere. Her BPD causes her to become extremely attached to people, and she has a very difficult time letting those attachments go.
Around girls (and Taka and Chihiro), Nene does her best to control her temper, because she believes that girls should have each other’s backs. She is also the best in Class 78 at keeping secrets, and the girls of her class trust her. Nene also treats those who fit neither label with the same kindness as she treats the girls.
Around guys, Nene is blunt, aggressive, and overall a total tornado of rude teasing. This is to hide how insecure she feels around them. Taka only gets special treatment because of a certain interaction they had when Nene broke down late one night in the library over her grades.
Her dorm room is filled with trophies, flags, awards, pictures of herself and her friends, and blankets. Her favorite food is Parmesan cheese.
Relationships with Others
Aoi Asahina: Best friends. They tell each other anything and everything.
Kiyotaka Ishimaru: Best friends. Late one night, Nene forced herself to look at her grades, and when she saw them, the dam broke. She ripped the pages apart and exploded, but Taka stopped her from kicking over anything important. He encouraged Nene with his own experience of strictness and practicality, and Nene began to see academics in a different light- even if that light is very small.
Chihiro Fujisaki: Best friends. Nene and Chihiro do everything together, from car rides to eating together to arcades. Nene even tries to slow down a bit when Chihiro is in the car.
Celestia Ludenberg: Nene could immediately tell that she was being fake. She recognizes that the persona is a shield, but it still doesn’t make Celeste any different in her eyes. “If this is the version of herself that she wants to be, then she should go for it.”
Byakuya Togami: Hate. Let me tell you how I’ve come to hate-
OCs
Mayumi Kohaku @b0nez4may0r: Nene finds Mayumi very dependable, but wishes she’d cut back on the substances. (Because she hates the smell of weed. Totally not because she’s worried.)
Yamyo Saeki @ultpoolparty: She larps annoyance. It’s definitely not because she likes him. It’s definitely not that. Nope.
Fuoko Ito @fuokos-micison: Nene listens to Fuoko vent, and Fuoko helps Nene cut her hair. Nene cuts her own hair when she’s pent up, so Fuoko often has to help her fix it.
i figured i would ask u bc ur the designated nagito komaeda blogger in my mind and probably have a better handle on his character than i do. but i was talking w my gf about how like??? silly he was during the tragedy??? i havent touched ultra despair girls in a hot ass minute but like. comparatively to everyone else i feel like he was kinda like. just hanging around ?? i was wondering if u could kind of provide insight as to Why he was acting the way he was at that point?? and how he had changed from before the tragedy. ?? :3 thanks in advance and sorry if uve already spoken abt this haha
OKAY, HI!!!! So, I think there's some of this lightly touched upon in my very somewhat older post on my opinion on servant since I think he's one of the better aspects of Udg! Otherwise your question is pretty specific and I'd be happy to thoroughly answer it. :)
Nagito's pretty silly as a despair I have to agree, for the most part though his influence shouldn't be understated.
What makes Nagito different as a despair is that normally he has a limit to how far he'll go, he obviously at both points believes anything is okay for hope though. He absolutely hates Despair but views it as a NECESSARY thing for Hope to happen, this is consistent but as a despair we see he's willing to become despair himself to cause hope to happen. He's the reason Komaru is there at all since he believes she may be like his brother and have a potential talent, or hope, inside of her like her brother did. He helps the warriors of hope with Despair and brings an element that may cause Hope so the despair turns into hope in the end. He doesn't find himself worthy and, of course, as usual is doing things from the sidelines. He appears to be a "servant" but he's the most in control of things only second to Monaca. That's a reason I actually do enjoy the "servant," aspect of his appearance here.
Servant is Nagito's absolute beliefs and coping mechanism pulled to its utmost disgusting and extreme. And it's interesting because the killing game ITSELF is impacted by this leading to his worst mentally. He's disgusted by the despair later on reading the file, his classmates being terrorists, him resorting to being despair himself, he hates it. The Nagito we see in the killing game hasn't developed the love hate relationship for Junko yet and is disgusted by all of it.
Basically, Nagito beforehand hates despair but thinks it's necessary for Hope so it has a valid reason to exist. Servant can wrap his head around loving despair and actively is okay serving for it himself all in the name of hope, and when that leans into the gaslit love for Junko it's so at fundamental odds with himself that he goes spiraling thinking about it. The main difference is how he's more willing to cause or assist Despair for the Hope himself and things being warped to the point where he "loves" Junko. His mind is warped into not hating Junko and he's more willing to actively love and serve Despair in the name of Hope.
Hope (hah) this helps! If you have any more questions let me know, I'm honored to be your designated Nagito Komaeda blogger and thank you for your ask!!! <3
In medieval Europe there was a good luck charm known as a Hand of Glory. It was a criminal’s left hand - usually collected from bodies after public executions that authorities left there as a warning.
The more wicked the person was, the more good luck it was believed to bring.
Why everyone in Danganronpa is an adult + a detailed timeline
Basic Info
The students of Hope’s Peak Academy are recruited from various high schools across
the nation. They are grouped into classes by when they were recruited rather than by
age but as a basic rule each student is at least 16 years of age when recruited. This
document provides information and insight to why I believe every character in the main 3
Danganronpa games is an adult over the universal age of majority (18 years of age). I
will be covering Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Super Danganronpa 2: Goodbye
Despair, and New Danganronpa V3:Killing Harmony in this document. There may be
spoilers from the DR3 anime from both Despair and Future Arc as well so keep that in
mind.
!!BIG SPOILER WARNING FOR ALL DANGANRONPA MEDIA!!
Trigger Happy Havoc
THH takes place 2 calendar years after the new Ultimate class’s imprisonment and the
Hope’s Peak Tragedy (the reserve course mass suicide as shown in DR3:Despair Arc)
At the time of the student’s recruitment most were understood to be high school aged so
16-18 aside from Yasuhiro Hagakure who was 21 when recruited. After that 2 year
period of imprisonment all of the students would be at least 18 though they still believe
they are high schoolers thanks to Junko’s brainwashing. For my notes’ purpose I’m
going to place the killing game’s start at about mid-May and assume the duration was
approximately 3 months which would end it somewhere between mid-July and early
August. To account for ages we have to note that multiple birthdays would have passed
during this time frame without them knowing. For example Togami’s birthday is May 5th
which would have passed right at the beginning of when the killing game started or right
before. The birthdays that would definitely pass in the timespan I’ve established include
Mondo’s and Sayaka’s. That would add another year to Mondo’s number by the time he
died. Sayaka unfortunately wouldn’t have lived to see that next birthday as it would take
place closer to the end of the game where I would place chapter 4 but she would still be
at least 18 by the time of the killing game. Since Sayaka and Makoto grew up in the
same grade it’s safe to say they’re around the same age though he’d be slightly younger
based on birthdays and how schools are lined up in Japan.
Super Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair
SDR2 takes place inside of a simulation created by the Future Foundation. At the time the cast was placed into it they were all between the ages of 20-24 after being out and
raising hell as Remnants of Despair for a number of years. The only exception being
Chiaki Nanami who was executed in DR3 at the age of 18. In the simulation the cast is
shown to be between 16-17 but they are ultimately adults by the time they are in the
simulation.
I know I said I was going to watch a playthrough of Danganronpa V3, but.. I have like, no motivation to. From what I’ve seen, it doesn’t even appear to be connected to the original story in any way, and.. yeah, that’s about it.
Like, there are so many loose ends that need tying up regarding the original Danganronpa lore, and now we got some alternate universe shit going on? How am I supposed to just accept that?
I know I’ll probably like it if I watch it a bit more, and I probably just pissed off a lot of fans, but like, how is this game more popular than Ultra Despair Girls? Most people watch that last! How??? Like I’m genuinely curious
