DRV3 SPOILER!! Why people hate Maki analysis.(because screw character analysis. It’s time to analyze fandom baby!!)
To summarize this, it's a mini Maki's character analysis. (on why people hate her.) *I just want to get it off my chest.
*From my perspective. So please! Please, spare me!! ALL I WANT IS TO EXPRESS MY OPINION. (┳Д┳)
From what I've seen in some forums and threads, part of the reason why (some) people hate her is because she "caused” murder to happen. And her stubbornness and rash personality certainly doesn't help her case at all. Despite that, I feel like the point of her character isn't how she fudged things up, but how she has learnt her lesson, faced consequences and changed for the better. I love seeing anti-social stoic girl turn into a more genuine girl who cares more about her friends, do something for someone else's sake instead of her own. That's why I love her. I love changes. I personally care more about how she is now, not how she was. It did take a while for oh-my-god-i’m-fudged-up to hit her. She only realized all that when it was pretty much too late. Still, I fins it sad that people do not like her because her past actions.(it is reasonable) People judge her base on what she's done without thinking much on how she got her own consequence and move on.
*and if it isn’t because of paragraph above, then there’s nothing wrong with that. I just want to do an in-dept analysis and understand the ones who have different opinion from me. Instead of being an arse to them. ( ̄∇ ̄)
more possible reasons: 1.Her "bland" character design. < I like it, though. it's simple and clean ;) > 2.Expectation < some people expected more from her and when they didn't get what they wanted. Expectation turns into disappointment.> 3. Unlikable personality. < She is one of those character that meant to be unlikable at first.> 4. Stereotype. < some say her being an assassin with that personality type and backstory is full of cliche. I don't really feel that way. Maybe because I'm ignorant and didn't know most of the things regular person knows???> 5.Not compatible <her character is not for everyone's taste. > 6. Out shine. < I have to say DRV3 overall have the best cast of characters so far. Considering her character, some may find others more enjoyable.> 7.A bit too late to change? <As I mentioned before, she changed, but a bit too late. She started to show her caring side *after* Momota (and technically Ouma too.) sacrificed himself to save her. And that was chapter 5. If she returned at some point in the future and Kodaka decides to show another side of her (the likable side), I'm sure people would like her more. 8.Bias 9.other
side note; What I want to see more from her in the future is her "true" personality ( assuming the fact that DR team had modified their personality is truth.) It would be amazing to see she pulls a 180 on us, and people start loving her all of the sudden. That goes to Saihara and Yumeno and everyone, really. Not from video clips, but actually see them, like DR team restore their truth personality. etc.
* all of these can be change after the western release.
Thinking about my title....I have nothing against Weeby btw. lol.
I love irl Kaede. <3
It's all fiction? Always has been.
I did a Danganronpa-themed mass-attack this year for Art Fight! It's based on the pre-trial screens from the games :D Featured characters belong to the users below the cut!
