Today we went to see some treasures from the Danhuang caves at the Mitsui Memorial Museum in Nihonbashi. There we saw handwritten Buddhist sutras on scrolls dating back to the Tang dynasty. Danhuang is a historically important place in China along the southern silk route with the main road connecting India, Lhasa, Mongolia and Siberia.
