The only interpretation of the Daniel and Gilbert scene that could make me less mad is that it is a slightly different Gilbert due to being resurrected based off of Morpheus’ -> Daniel’s memories, and thus is basing his speech on Morpheus’ thoughts/memories and not his own.

Because despite Everything, Morpheus’ struggles to acknowledge his own changes and that he was loved. So if Daniel is recreating beings and memories based only on Morpheus’ memories…

In this way Morpheus remaining dead also remains his choice rather than Gilbert fucking Green talking out his ass.

I don’t think this was the intended reading at all, but that’s not going to stop me from believing it lmao. 🤷

Spoilers for sandman season 2 and an AU idea

Just found out that there isn’t gonna be a sandman season 3(I’ve been getting really into it) because there wasn’t enough of the source material to make anymore which I’m so sad about :( I need more sandman content!!!!!! Like I know Daniel is technically morpheus or well the dreaming but I think it would have been funnier if Daniel was just Daniel trying to figure out this whole endless thing and Morpheus was re-born as a human/some other being and had to deal with his siblings(the endless) and other pantheons of gods and also his workers/citizens of the dream, but he’s just some guy with no memory of his past life dealing with all this shit while working some shit job he hates and they just keep bothering him. I wanna make this au but honestly I don’t know where to start, I’m thinking of making it into a fanfic, feel free to send me asks of stuff that could add on to the sandman au, anyone can use this idea if they want(with credit and @ me please I need more of this au)

I haven’t done animatics in a long while, but making this one was a really fun, but lengthy process. I worked on it on and off over two months and really like how it currently looks. Although down the line id love to do a version with color shading, and some more movement.

I’ve been really into the Sandman since hearing about its announcement and have loved doodling the characters. I thought the Hall’s part of the storyline particularly interesting. How intertwined with the plot they are, no matter how much they try to escape it and the bittersweet fate that each of them have. Lyta’s sort of an underappreciated character whose actions made through grief are really compelling. The fact she tries to protect her son so much, just to be the one who seals his fate into what he becomes and thus loses him, is so tragic. So, it seemed like a really interesting storyline to adapt an animatic into.

Originally, since this isn’t the entire song, I considered having a part more focused on Morpheus. It would have been the second chorus and possibly would reshow events from his perspective. But, his version of events already exists. It’s literally The Sandman comic. So he stayed in surprisingly brief, but important appearances and he gets a small section where he feeds the birds with Death and reminisce.

So I’ve been a huge fan of The Sandman comics ever since I was a teen and now that the show is here I of course am back on my bullshit. One thing I’m very interested in seeing how they handle/approach is Daniel.

As a teen reading Sandman I was really upset with the idea that Morpheus *dies* and I didn’t really understand Daniel as a character.

But as I’ve gotten older I’ve really come to love Daniel and have come to the conclusion that Dream doesn’t truly die. He evolves and changes, he might not be *the* Morpheus we followed throughout the series but rather he becomes something more? Something new.

Like this sounds so silly to be this attached to a character and their story but like I feel like it’s totally valid to mourn for Morpheus but also at the same time celebrate his new beginning as Daniel? He sees the world and his appointment through different eyes and for me it’s almost like how we as humans go through life? Aspects of us die or disappear but we are still the same person and as we change we get to see the world through new discoveries we hadn’t considered before.

Anyway just me talking about my love for Dream and Daniel thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.
