“In 2008, after a decade living in China and photographing landscapes and communities on the margins of the society, I wanted to explore similar terrain in the United States. Philadelphia, with its racial and economic divisions, seemed a good place to start. The process, however, proved more complex and personal than I anticipated—not surprising, perhaps, when returning to one’s hometown.”
See the work by documentary photographer and filmmaker Daniel Traub on view in "New Grit: Art & Philly Now" through August 22.
