Finally found a home in my home office for this amazing print by @tinymediaempire that I bought at @limitedtoonenyc last week. I love its romantic depiction of where music takes you, deftly mixed with a dark undertone of decay—a quiet manic vibe of hoarding and depression, yet spiritual release too. The windows are white and bright, highlighting that a cheery, vibrant world is just outside—but there’s no detail as to what’s out there because at this moment, what’s out there doesn’t matter to the listener, cocooned in this lush record room. And THAT is the seductive power of music—and record collecting. It’s also fascinating to ID some of the album covers on the floor; I’ve spotted two Kate Bush albums, Bjork, Plow, Nirvana, Black Flag, Killing Joke, Metallica, PJ Harvey, Shellac, Touché Amore, The Clash and what might be (but probably isn’t) David Bowie’s “Tonight” album. I wonder what else is scattered throughout that opulent space?

The son of a middle school art teacher and a professional potter, he was probably never going to be an accountant. His explanation of his own work is borderline nonsense and involves overlapping timelines, references to SIERRA point n' click adventure games, number stations in the desert oscillating whispered conversations, the death of ghosts at the hands of foliage, giant trauma shadow beings born of kidnapped children that drip wolf shadows, and 1920s childrens books. He is the lost boy-king of Ghost Island, and a broken brain'd hoarder of vintage music gear, old toy ambulances, and bad hardcore records. Him and his wife have a dog named after noted character actor Toby Huss and a daughter named after dual Grandmas.
